Not really. Most banks, financial lenders, credit card companies, etc will have clause(s) to that effect that cover/absolve themselves in their T+C's. They are obliged by law to.

SARS first in line. Everything and everyone else follows...
Exactly like THAT?

Hi all, wonder if anyone can assist.

i have requested to close my Tymebank account back in October and received the forms to complete. I completed all these forms with a verified ID copy as required and returned them to the email I received.

The email stated the account will be closed within 5 business days of receiving the documents. After 2 weeks, nothing happened so I asked for an update on the matter and have no response still 2 weeks later.

I would really like to close the account ASAP, should I send another account closure request or can they close the account if i contact the call center?

all advice will be appreciated!
As I've mentioned before
It's of absolutely no use trying to close an account

You have to send approved documents, and the signed form
They will then advise you not to use your account for a year, then it will automatically close.

They only temporarily block your card, which can be unblocked by using it to make a payment.

If you remove all funds from your account, and leave it dormant for a year, it is supposed to be closed automatically anyway.

The easiest option will be to contact the banking ombudsman, they will then very Swiftly respond.

Had transaction declined this morning at PnP, 1st try was with tap, 2nd retry was with inserting card and PIN, with the error Reason 57: Transaction not permitted to card holder. Doesn't look like it was charged, thankfully. Not sure if I feel like the pain of logging a support call to ask why I got the error.
Update: decided to email their support to just ask anyway

Did you check for double debits where a declined transaction was not reversed?

I had a decline on Friday evening but it reversed immediately.

Black Friday should be interesting.

Thankfully nothing has come of my a/c as yet, and didn't get any SMS so maybe this time I'm safe/lucky in that respect.

So i transferred money from fnb to tyme on Saturday.
As soon as cleared i moved the money to 1 of my goal saves,. The transfer failed, but the money was deducted from my main account.
I logged a call and got a reference. I received an sms confirming my ticket was logged on Saturday, stating I will be updated on or before the 20th.
Still waiting for an update, and my money is still mia.
It's been a week now. My money is still mia and no resolution yet.

Used mine quite a few times, didn't have issues my end. Any specific shop?

Mine was at Pick 'n Pay, both transactions at same place (as tried it a 2nd time).
Got a reply back from their support
"The reason the transaction declined was due to a temporary time out on our side.
The issue only lasted for a few minutes"

Never had a problem sending EFT payment personally to my Tyme..sure it could be faster...but besides a Sat transfer ( which only reflects late Monday!) my monies have always been received same day by 8pm.

Went to pick n pay, sanridge square couple of times. Tymebank kiosk was off-line each time. I am not sure whether to take these guys seriously yet. I will wait it out for a while.

They hold my emergency fund. I also use my Tymebank card when I reach my ebucks caps on FNB. I haven't had any issues, and well - I've used the kiosk once, and that was to get my card. I take them pretty seriously.

It might be worth letting someone at Tymebank know, as the Pick 'n Pay staff probably don't know about it, or don't care. I mean, Tyme can't sort it out if they don't know.
