It's a pretty easy thing to do. They even show you separately how much interest has been earned. Actually if you rely on a financial institution to tell you what your earnings are you are in for much bigger trouble as the people in this thread found out.

@TymeGuy I've logged numerous calls via email and phone regarding my IT3(b) being incorrect and showing zero interest earned even though I had positive balances in my Goalsaves. Same applies to my wife's account, which leads me to believe that it affects others too.

Are you able to assist with getting this corrected?

I do not want to risk non-compliance with SARS or risk that income being included with the next tax year, so if this can't be resolved I will have no choice but to move my money to a different institution.

Last response on this topic.

Tymebank failed me today.
I had signed up for an account some months back to see what the fuss is about, but I hadnt had a chance to get a card so I decided to do that while I was at PnP today.

Firstly the in store WiFi was faulty... Fortunately LTE started working (its iffy in the center I was using).

I then forgot my pin which I'd set up months ago and never used so I reset it... Note it's soo easy to reset if you have someone's unlocked phone. Just ask the app to reset it and the OTP comes to the phone. Done.

Then I logged in and went through the motions of choosing the card print option and scanning thumbs and entering my address etc. and at the end it told me "sorry we can't add features to your account right now". Adding features to the account was an option on the list but I chose to print card... So ok, I try again... Same thing. It hadn't stored my fingerprints and home address etc. - it just said sorry, no can do.

That's it for me. Call me impatient but that was a waste of thyme. And of course there's nobody to speak to when their system fails.

Strange.
Didn't they have a Clerk/Person to assist you?

Most of the questions and requirements come straight from Home Affairs. So if something is iffy, you'd have to sort it out there unfortunately.

I was assisted by a Clerk in PnP. He printed the card and did everything on the terminal.

Also. Resetting pin/password only works if you answer the same private HA questions.

Sometimes it's as easy as using a different machine. I also could not verify my fingerprints on first attempt, it also asked me some security questions which I answered but it could still not print a card, I forgot about it and used a kiosk at a different shop later and it printed my card with no issues.

Good point on the HA questions. I forgot it asked me those. It's possible I could have got help from the person behind the till. Unfortunately for me, my patience wasn't sufficient to continue. Next move I'll ask them to cancel stuff.

firstly ,a lot of their brand ambassadors never used to know much about how exactly tyme works, this could have improved or just got worse, and they couldnt assist if something went wrong.

secondly, congratulations on trying to close the account.
paperless process to open , but they need certified docs and a form to fill in , and once that's done , you have to wait for a year before the account closes.

Happens automagically if you don't use it after a year.

Well specifically ask them to remove my personal details front their servers.

English please?

And good luck with that.

Wonder if you will take it to Ombudsman, and if that fails, court? Do you have the patience for that?

An app for iPhone users is in development and will hopefully be available next month, Jacobs says.

Thyme bank card now works for overseas purchases online.
Added it to Paypal and seems they charge a 2.75% 2% currency conversion fee. Sucks.

EDIT: I see it's 2%.
49.4. All transactions conducted with a foreign based merchants (whether in foreign currency or in South African Rand) will be charged a conversion fee of 2% of the value of the transaction at settlement.

All banks charge currency conversion for purchases or transfers not in local currency. Usually in 2.5-3% range.

Keeping a $ or £ balance in PayPal is one way to avoid that.

Been like that forever here and overseas.
What did you expect.

Capitec doesn't charge it and likewise most if not all overseas digital/challenger banks like N26 etc.

I'd be very surprised if any major SA bank doesn't charge you.
Certainly Barclays, NatWest, PO credit card and numerous others in UK do.

It's Forex. That's how they make money.

It might also be PayPal (whose charging Tyme for the service,) although their conversion rates already suck.
Been a while since I purchased in other than £ currency on PayPal.

As mentioned, capitec doesn't charge any fees/percentage for foreign currency purchases.
