I think its actually set by the retailer, always wants a pin for over R200 on my FNB card, but the other day I could tap for over R300, no pin asked.
Thanks. This seems like something that should be user settable.

Does anyone know which other retailers besides PnP/Boxer support TymeBank withdrawals? I see TymeBank lists other retailer withdrawals in the price list.

Anyone else get a letter from the legal team about payments in December crediting twice? I got a two, one for me and one for someone else entirely. I do see now the payment I made credited twice in the destination bank account, once on the date of payment (8 Dec) and once again on 14 Dec.

Well, we know it happened and it was reversed, could you have transferred it out

I paid them back, just interested in how many people this happened to since they sent me someone else's letter by mistake.

Nasty glitch, since it's the third party recipient who needs to pay them back not the Tyme client - I just happened to be both in this situation.

Registration
There seems to be some confusion regarding the Smart Shopper registration process:
  • Customers who join TymeBank at one of our kiosks in PnP or Boxer stores (or upgrade after joining online) will be automatically linked to Smart Shopper.
  • If you don't have a Smart Shopper profile linked to your ID, it'll be created for you, and your TymeBank card will be linked to your SS profile.
  • If you already have a SS profile linked to your ID, your TymeBank card will be linked to your profile (alongside your blue SS card). SS points can be earned and burned using either card.
  • There is no need to register a Smart Shopper profile via PnP's Smart Shopper kiosks or website - in fact, customers who in the past did this before we'd managed to link their TymeBank cards made it much more difficult for PnP and ourselves to sort things out.
  • The only scenario where automatic Smart Shopper profile creation/linking will not happen is if you have elected to opt out of participation in the Smart Shopper program during the kiosk onboarding process. You need to confirm twice to opt out and far less than 1% of customers have done this - however, once you have opted out, we do not currently offer a process that allows you to subsequently change your mind and opt in (we will in future, but as always we focus our development efforts on what we believe will have the greatest positive impact for the bulk of our customers).
  • Registrations for new customers is working very reliably, but we are still experiencing some issues with card replacements. The realtime registration of the replacement card sometimes fails - we are working on a fix. In the interim, we are running an overnight batch process that identifies cards that have not been successfully linked and forces the linking to occur.

Okay I am not going to read 253 pages of this thread so please advise even if this has been answered before.

  1. I created a Tyme Bank account last week and collected the card at a PnP kiosk. I did agree and did not opt-out of Smart Shopper. Out came the newly printed Tyme card. I tried swiping it for points at the same PnP but the cashier told me the card is not active. I let it be since I had just got the card a few minutes prior so thought "yeah maybe it will take a day or two".
  2. Tried using it at a BP for SS points and the slip printed out "this card is blocked".
  3. Started tapping the Tyme card for payment and it works just fine.
  4. Went to PnP over this weekend and although I can pay using the Tyme card, no points or discounts for SS as the card is not active. What!? I had to ask another person in line to use their SS card so I could still get the discounts.

  • I phoned PnP now and the consultant said that no SS profile was created for my ID number and the SS card number on the back of the Tyme card is not registered, and I must call Tyme.
  • I phoned Tyme Bank and the consultant said PnP are wrong and they must do the linking, there is nothing Tyme can do.
  • So I go to the PnP website to see if I can create a profile myself but when I punch in the SS card number from the back of the Tyme card, the website says this is not a valid SS number.

So what gives? This is literally the only reason I opened a Tyme account. To put money in and use it to collect SS points.

Hi. Sorry you've had such a run-around with this. Did you have a Smart Shopper profile before you opened your TymeBank account? Would you mind sending a private message with your name and cell-phone number that you used to register the account with so we can have a look at what could have happened?
Thanks, The TymeBank Team

I may have taken a Smart Shopper card many many (10?) years ago but certainly not used in the last 5 years. I am not a frequent PnP shopper and only started recently when I learned about the SS discounts and the Tyme partnership, and saw someone earning points at BP.

Sending you a PM now with my details. Thank you.

Great. Thank you. We'll look out for it and do some investigating on our side and then will revert asap.

So to close your account:

1. Skip the rep and email as they do not provide any kind of response, phone them.
2. They will send you a case number and form to complete
3. The bank which allows you to open a bank account at a PnP kiosk requires a certified copy of your ID to close your account
4. ...well that's as far as I have gotten. Can tell you that you need to save the case reference number and phone them next financial year to get your tax certificates from them as they will not send it.

EDIT: not that FNB is any better, I have an "escalation" email from them over 5 days ago, nothing. Tyme's contact center is by far better than FNB's, that's for sure.

There appears to be a problem with the pricing of the Spotify vouchers on the TymeBank app.

Thanks @TymeBank Team for figuring it out and helping to fix it.

For the benefit of others and to qualify my post above, it appears I didn't click "yes" when asked to agree to Smart Shopper T's & C's. I thought I did, but obviously not.

At first I did but that was years ago, I had to load my Tyme a/c as a Cheque a/c then it was all smooth sailing since.
Sorted. Thank you so much, it's amazing that neither Disco nor Tyme could give me a reason for the collection failing. I don't understand why the account type attribute even exists.

Cool glad you came right. I also had issues with that and my Outsurance (which I had to add as a Transmission a/c) back when I got going.

Hi @TymeGuy, I have an issue I need resolved but I cannot send you a DM. I sent it to the Tyme Bank Team but not sure if they will answer.

I need a status update on a case number.
