Tymebank failed me today.
I had signed up for an account some months back to see what the fuss is about, but I hadnt had a chance to get a card so I decided to do that while I was at PnP today.

Firstly the in store WiFi was faulty... Fortunately LTE started working (its iffy in the center I was using).

I then forgot my pin which I'd set up months ago and never used so I reset it... Note it's soo easy to reset if you have someone's unlocked phone. Just ask the app to reset it and the OTP comes to the phone. Done.

Then I logged in and went through the motions of choosing the card print option and scanning thumbs and entering my address etc. and at the end it told me "sorry we can't add features to your account right now". Adding features to the account was an option on the list but I chose to print card... So ok, I try again... Same thing. It hadn't stored my fingerprints and home address etc. - it just said sorry, no can do.

That's it for me. Call me impatient but that was a waste of thyme. And of course there's nobody to speak to when their system fails.
I had a very similar experience tonight and I'm extremely disappointed and pissed.. I opened my Account a few days ago and received my first payment into my account and obviously needed to go print my card.. So at the kiosk, I logged in, did my thumbprints and address and as I was done and chose to print card, it said : error and that it can't print my card right now and that I have to go try at another kiosk at a different shop .. Immediately I went onto my app and it said that my card has been canceled.. But I never got my card though.. And now I have to go the shops again and print a new card, which I don't really have time to do with my twin baby girls so time is of the essence for me, which is why I've been so super stoked to start using Tymebank as it's easy and quick access and no long stories or lines at the Bank.. And I have to pay R50 for a new card.. I understand 100% that if the kiosk has an error, all good (inconvenient but I get it), but immediately just canceling my card without any say-so or request from me, is seriously not cool and me having to pay for a new card for a problem on their side is also extremely ridiculous. I'm extremely disappointed and also, please can one of you lovely peoples from Tymebank contact me sort this out.. It's a problem on your side, so you need to please rectify this.. Thaaaanks

I get and agree that the R50 card fee is a problem, I don't get why the cancelling of the card is a problem.

Just want to confirm with you experts. Can I use the Tyme Bank card for all online purchases, locally and international?

Does anybody here know how to get my card's pin unblocked. I accidentally gave my wife the incorrect pin so she blocked it.
Yes, go in to the bank. I doubt you can do it any other way. Try their call center, but they're likely to tell you to go into the bank with ID.

I think a Kiosk should give you the option to reset it by answering questions and re-scanning ID?

On the app? There's a reset pin option.
Thanks for the replies.

Eventually I tried the "Change PIN" option on their site and managed to change the PIN - after struggling with the OTP that just didn't arrive, so I kept clicking the "Resend OTP" button and got like a million, so I couldn't figure out which one was the correct one. For some reason my phone didn't order the bloody things correctly (SMS's only care about minutes, not what second of that minute the SMS arrived in).

So just a heads-up to anybody who manages to block their PIN.

You have to realise that TymeBank isn't my main account, so whenever my wife wants to buy something and I know I cannot afford to give her my Standard Bbank cheque card, I give her the Tyme card. Works every time.

Except if you give your wife the wrong PIN

Speaking of main account, has anybody moved their salary to Tyme yet? I cannot justify paying Standard Bank R300 per month for their "service" anymore. ****'em

No flip, ditch Standard Bank. They are the worst. I was paying up to R750 a month in 2004. Never again.

Just waiting for them to roll out a credit card. Which should be any month now.

When do the smart shopper points from shopping at other places with the TymeBank card reflect on your pick n pay account? I shopped with my TB card yesterday and haven't earned any points on the PnP app yet.

Normally the points get added on around the 5/6th of the month, it's not instant. Is a pity you can't see a statement for the points earned elsewhere/double at PnP.
