We are getting somewhere. Tyme is really going the extra mile to help me sort things out. Got CC'd in a bunch of emails and correspondences between Tyme, Telkom, Openserve and ABSA about the debit order issue.

Hi all, didn't have much time reading . But I have a quick question on the goal save. Can you put a maximum of R100k capital and let the growth exceed limit. Or is capital and growth limited to R100k?

When they say waste time, they really mean it. I wonder what would be a reasonable time frame to close an account, considering that it takes less than 5 mins to open one.
They emailed me on a Thursday and need the certified documents by mon, that's 4 days (including the weekend),or the cancelation request is automatically closed.

However 4 days, after sending the documents and I'm curious if they have received it or it somehow got misplaced like some of my previous emails which they never managed to locate. The reply is that I should read the quoted post again.

@ambroseg1 did you have any luck with closing your account?

Not complaining today, just warning others who might have to go through the same process.

I was called AGAIN on Friday last week. Did the security steps AGAIN. Guy then tells me my account is now officially closed as per my request. Never once mentioned that stupid form they e-mailed me.
I can however still log into my account on the android app. So its not closed.

Just look at their horse's @ss response in a post recently where they say they never gave any thought to clients wanting to close their accounts thus never made provision for it! How is this acceptable to anybody??
Instead they want you to leave an account dormant for a year for it to be closed (so they did give thought to closing accounts). What sort of banking institution gives this type of advice? Who then takes responsibility if the account is compromised and used for illegal means?

I wonder if it's a case for the banking ombud?

I understand your frustration.
I submitted my certified documents almost a week ago, and I don't know if it reached them or its with my other emails that they could never manage to locate.

Their lack of communication and sub standard replies are something that I have been suggesting from before the launch, that it really needs to be brought up to standard.
They have implemented some other suggestions, but only realised this one now that it takes hours to speak to a human at Tyme. The call centre agents acknowledge that they are overwhelmed and they openly state it Here and on their other social media pages also.

It seems like their plan was always to launch a very very basic banking platform, and then slowly add and build capabilities, one of them being their customer support.
Every few months they are introducing new features, so to sort out their support department depends on how far this lists on their to do list.

I don't think this is for the banking ombudsman as tyme allegedly has the ability to close an account, but it's a manual process and manual processes don't have any priority.

I don't really get the whole insisting on closing the account.. Every bank is subject to strict AML (anti money laundering) standards and rules, among others.I seriously doubt your account will be compromised, and if it is, you won't have any money in there anyway. So if you don't want the account, let it go dormant and avoid the stress..

Agreed. This is just paranoia which is why there's no priority process for it.

Like 300 or something, but I only kept a little in a few goalsaves. I am going to max them out now that my account is verified and I have the card.

If you goalsave has been open a while, is the % interest calculated on the date of each initial fund(s) investment into that goalsave, or only on length of time since initial depositi.e total capital

e.g if I placed 1000 initially, then 15 days after another 1000, will my interest on day 31 be 7% on 2000 or only initial 1000 and 1000 @ 6% for next 15 days.

Just some info.

If you ever see a speedpoint by Nedbank like the ones at Burger king and Krispy Kreme don't even waste your time tapping. Even though show the tapngo logo they ALWAYS decline because when you tap those machines don't go online. They only go online when you chip and pin.

Also Parking pay stations at Mall of Africa works with both tapngo or chip and pin. All the pay stations at mall of africa "goes online" for authorization so the transaction gets approved. :)
