After completing the official application form, they sent me 6 more forms and then I still need to furnish them with the following:

- Learner admission contract
- Learner code of conduct
- Consent for credit check
- Debit order form
- General indemnity form
- Learners birth certificate
- Learner vaccination record
- Proof of residence
- Account holder ID
- Latest report card
- Financial statement from previous school

**** that, public school it is!

Which of those do you have an objection to? And why?

They mostly seem to be concerned with protecting themselves and whether or not you can pay the fees - understandable given the current climate.

Entolment fee of R2 100 then school-fees of R37k or just over R3k per month.

Then we'll have to opt for the bus which is another R1 100.

My daughter is in grade 9 this year...well she should be, but the closest school to me put her on a waiting list. This despite us having appliedd in February last year when applications opened. I've involved the circuit manager under which the school falls as well as the WCED.

My daughter is turning 14. We probably lost her vaccination record 10 years ago already. It's not something parents keep for life. Then credit check? I only pay via EFT. And financial statement? Some of these things are fairly private. I'm not sure I'd like a school to look at my income and debt obligations.

So you're the problem then, and not Curro?

Those fees don't seem terrible - I pay R2400 per month for a public school.

They don't? My mum must have been an exception then

R1 400 over here (last year), but my wife used to drop her off and pick her up again. But this year the wife works at different campuses (she's in Worcester today) so I'm forced to make use of the school's transport.

So it's three times what I used to spend on school-related expenses.

There goes my beer fund!

Well I asked them if I can buy the school uniform while they're vetting, they told me to first supply all that kak and then we can talk about when she starts.

But on the other hand, I understand Curro is a business first, before it's a school - the closest school to me.

That's a terrible comparison. Your public school has teachers whose salaries are mostly covered by the state while Curro have to pay salaries and everything else out of the pittance Donkey pays.

They simply want a statement from the previous school, showing their invoices and your payments, not your financial statements (income and debt). ;-)

You should keep it until they're out of school - that's just common sense. You'll need it if you want to change schools... oh wait.

They want to make sure you can live up to your obligations.
