Absolutely nothing!
We had a wedding in the family, tried to pick it up on Saturday, then cancelled, Sunday afternoon but I couldnt make it, called him Sunday night around 6pm, I didnt want to pick it up on the Monday so he opened on the Sunday night.

He even put all the lights on so I could have a look at the tyres and do a little quality check. He also brought a little complimentary fruit basket.:p

And thats for a Citi Golf!

Yuk @ citi gholph - you sure had a good salesman on your case there.

When I bought my car my salesman had his gun on the table and practically bullying me into the sale...LMAO:D It was a site to behold...he knew I knew he will NEVER sell that Alfa 147...it stood there for GOD knows how long...I eventualy came there with my dad's 156 V6...just to let him know me an Alfa guy, and he stopped all his bull**** and came down form 100k to 80k + 5k cashback for stone chips!!!Needless to say me didn't use the 5k for stonechips but rather Mongoletsi...but that's another story...moral of the story...dealers SUCK all kinds of ass...sorry for generalising!

I'm so sorry you had to go through this for a brand new car! It's unbelievable. When you are dropping that kind of money, everything should be perfect. The dealers just think that because you are so excited to get your new car, you will accept second best.

And they are right...because we do.

I had a similar experience. Asked for scratches and chips to be sorted out. Got the car with chips and scratches still there, and a promise to sort it out when I bring it back 'next week'. Then the salesman resigned the very next day. I won't be so easily screwed over again.

Oh no. This is the reason I don't like to buy new, your expectations are high, you take a big knock on the resale value and you walk away scathed.

Give them another chance I suppose. I like that little car though, might replace my girlfriends 147 with it, then I can take it out on weekends... :D

You will pick it up several times on Channel 120...most days in fact, between shows.

Personally, I had decent service from Arnold Chatz Hyde Park, but then again, I never bought a vehicle from them - just serviced the Panda there.

Adam, it is this point that you walk away from the deal altogether. You have told Wesbank to cancel, and you are clear to go as far as owing any money to anyone.

I doesn't matter how decent the DP may or may not have been. the entire deal is a tax up from beginning to end.

Walk away from it NOW...these cockups never get better!!

im going to do just that ... you right, im tired of feeling sorry for people, its their mess-up not mine at all ... the only thing is im totally inconvenienced and stressed by the whole thing ... buy a polo in 2010 :)

EDIT: Fazda, can Wesbank still honour this deal and pay the dealer out, seeing that i have instructed them not to make payment to Alfa. The physical contract has been cancelled with the lines cancelled on them, but this Nastassha lady has not returned my calls. (but im thinking they can fax through a copy of that contract prior to the cancel lines going through the pages). Also after how long should such a contract be handed in to Wesbank for them to consider it valid ... i heard if after three days of signing they dont receive the contract it will need to be redrawn and signed? ... what is the exact amount of days?

"With respect to account number xxxxxxx, and my reason now not to take the car at all, and im listing all of the reasons. Thought i could compromise but seeing the dealer is not returning my calls, i need to now totally cancel this deal
1. The vehicles passenger seat has been damaged prior to me having picked up the vehicle, and the fault lies totally with FIAT, absolutely none my doing. They left the car unlocked on a Saturday morning on their showroom floor, knowing the car is sold! I could have picked up the car on a Saturday but the sales person was busy on this day and could not give me the car details so that i could insure it.
2. The car has been driven from Hyde Park to an upholsterer in Springs to try and get the leather repaired and this is now no longer a new car as mileage has been put on the car. Mind you it is in a worse state now after their tried repairing it, looks like someone sandpapered the seats
3. FIAT registered the car on my name after the fault had been identified and after having sent the car to get repaired! This is totally their mess up and the sales person will need to be taken to task for this. I am in no way responsible for this mess-up and made to feel that I'm obligated to take the car, this is not on. The dealer can reregister the car on their name and sell the car as a demo
4. The car is not in my ownership
5. The physical contract has been cancelled, Nastassha Wolmarans has physically put the lines cancelled through every page of the contract with myself and Dwayne as witness. Ive tried contacting Nastassha Wolmarans to get this cancelled contract emailed to yourself and me with no feedback or success. This is unprofessional in my view and the reason for this email to you
6. On inspection of the contract it has in any event the incorrect interest rate on it. It states prime less 1.25% when it should have been prime less 0.5%. This contract then is null and void in my view
7. I again appeal to you not to make any payment to FIAT, i will acquire a car from another dealer. This entire deal from the start has been sour ... and has inconvenienced me to a point where i had to hire a car"

my email to wesbank ...

when does the new polo come out?
