Anyone else suffering with compiz/window decorator crashes (Maverick)?

Recently, possibly since upgrading to Maverick, possibly a bit after that, I've been plagued with compiz crashes that leave my desktop in a sorry Window decorator-less state.

I've re-enabled ctrl-alt-backspace to restart the X-server because it makes the computer quite unusable. Anyone else struggling with this? any ideas?

As far as I can tell everything is absolutely up to date
Usually happens while I'm browsing internet, I close Chromium and discover compiz is gone.
Google is very unhelpful.

Yes, I have since the upgrade to 10.04.

But mine happens randomly and only after starting PC up after a restart or clean start.

I logout and login again and its working.

Are you using docky as well?

I must say I disabled docky and now using the panel again since last week and I haven't noticed the problem again, although early to say.

I have a hunch that it could be a config somewhere and would really like to start desktop decoration settings on clean slate.

Im using Cairo Dock, had suspicions it might be that, but cant confidently pin it to any one scenario

strange, im using one of the docks also- cant remember which one though and if I enable wallpapers on compiz it doesnt repaint the screen.... so if I move a window it paints multiple copies across the desktop
