Anyone else think goal.co.za is pathetic?

I'm sure they are a small business trying to do a lot right now, and are very busy and all, but they got everyone on this forum all excited posting actual prices and services and then - big nothing. No updates, no registrations, not even an email to tell us that they have been delayed - They promised us low prices for august and their website still says the forms will be ready mid-july.

Smells like another 'axxess' to me (*for those who remember). Wouldnt trust goal with customer service anymore...

Just wondering if they can reply or what you guys think about it...

I have a couple of pending quaries sitting with them that they haven't replied on but I won't call them pathetic. I feel the hype surrouning their ADSL offering might have caused a flood of e-mails to them. Try reading the FAQ on their website - some of the questions may be answered there.

I also sent them a few queries, but have yet to receive a response (and these were sent when the first news broke about their products).

I hope that they get their act together in the short term, or else things will not be looking too rosy for them.

Well lets give them credit as they already have a forum representative. A big + in my opinion, although it's a bit worrying he/she hasn't responded to queries yet.

I'll play the wait game.

I am being a bit harsh, I know, but every time I look at their faq, and it says that the forms should be ready mid July, I realise its almost mid August, and no updates for potential customers. It just ticked me off that they used this site and the forum to promote themselves and their other services like no ad ever could in the IT world, and havent even bothered to deliver anything.

It is rather worrying for a hungry new business to simply not deliver. Fortunately changing isp is not such a hard thing to do.

What needs to be understood is that when one considers the South African telecoms market, one only finds pathetic.

There are degrees of pathetic.

No man, dont put a blanket over it - look at guys like WA and Openweb.. even SAOL (most of the time).. nothing pathetic about them, they work their asses off in any environment that gets forced upon them ...

They are still pathetic. It's Telkom's fault, of course, but they are still pathetic compared to international offerings.

A+ for effort, of course.

Yes, sure - but thats not the point - how is thelkom's fault that their registration page still says that the forms will be ready mid-july, and they havent bothered to comment here - will they be ready to sign people up in September? 5 days left...

Aah, good SA business. Just keep changing the date. Much better than actually doing the work! Now all your complaints about mid-July sound pretty stupid doesn't it! :)

That seems to be a great issue here in SA, all talk and no action. If you guys aren't ready to launch, then don't. Get ready for anything you might encounter before you launch, not while launching. Also try not to give a date that you might not make, rather make the date a bit later and come out and surprise everyone when you do it on the day that you were planning to anyway. ;)

Anything to make the situation better... we don't need another Telkom's in SA thank you.
