Anyone ever had this?

Last night my PC locked up (MCE can be temperamental when ALT-Tabbing when a video is playing) to the point where I had to do power down by holding the power button down for a couple of seconds. I usually wait a second or two before powering back up but because I was frustrated I turned it back on pretty much instantly to the horror of no activity past post code 04 (My board reports post codes via lcd characters on the board).

Did some investigation this morning to find out that pausing on code 04 means my memory has failed. Now I've heard that quick power offs & on damage hard-drives but never RAM. Anyone else experienced this?

I can see how it MIGHT happen. It is possible.

But if I were you, I'd take the RAM out and swop it around with another module or put in in another slot, it could still work fine.
