I'm pretty much a hiking noob and I'm thinking of getting these Salomons for hikes up table mountain, lion's head and devil's peak, etc...
R1,800 seems to be the going price, e.g. Sportmans and Cape Union Mart when I checked last.
Anyone using them for these types of hikes? How are they? I don't think I will do trail running unless I can rehab my knees to take the punishment...
Last did lion's head a year ago in old torn up asics road running shoes and that was fine. I'm trying to avoid ankle support unless absolutely necessary. I have some fairly unworn hi-tec hiking boots with ankle support if need be, wore them to work a few times and boy are they hard!
If the Salomon Speedcross 3 CS is fine for the aforementioned hikes then I'd like to use them for Otter Trail if I do that later this year. Will probably need to get some Seal Skinz for that, if not sooner. http://www.sealskinz.co.za/
