I've tried my old Billion router, my current Netgear DGN2200 and three ADSL accounts (Mweb, Afrihost and FNB). I'm on a 1 Mbps line managed my Telkom.

I checked again, upstream noise margin is now 5.9 dB (better) but my upstream link rate has dropped to 144 Kbps. Gaming is absolutely impossible, my ping in BF3 is over 1200 ms.

Simon's Town/Da Gama fine, so not too widespread if there's something wrong...

Downstream SNR is now DOWN to 10.8 dB, upstream is UP to 6.7, upload speed is also up to 180 Kbps. FML :(

I guarantee you it's not firmware related, it's been running fine for several months now and I've also tried another router. As of this evening there's no dial tone on a telephone connected to the same line, so I'm not actually sure how I've got any connection at all right now o.0

Why not update anyway?

Upstream SNR is down again, 5.9 dB now. However, upload speed is now up to 216 Kbps but it's FAR from stable. Even just opening Google takes in excess of 30 seconds :(

To the best of my knowledge, SNR and link speeds are tied. How is it that the upload speed is doing its own thing regardless of SNR?

Pingtest is looking a touch better, but still nowhere near usable.

Seems I'm on the latest? I'm on V1.1.00.10_1.00.10

Attempting to connect to Netgear Server 1 . Please wait ...
Attempting to connect to Netgear Server 2 . Please wait ...
Attempting to connect to Netgear Server 3 . Please wait ...
No new firmware version available.

This screen will automatically return to the previous screen in a few seconds...

Edit - I found this http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18990/~/dgn2200%2Fdgn2200b-firmware-version-1.0.0.36

Which one though? I assume not North America.

Edit 2 - V1.1.00.10_1.00.10 is the router firmware revision, which I don't think could affect the modem side of things. The modem firmware version is A2pD035d.d23e, but I don't see any way of updating it.

Here

Firmware Version 1.1.00.23 (All Regions Except North America and Germany)

PS: my Noise Margin took a big dive to 4.4 from 19 (downstream) then the internet disconnected. Nationwide error?

If your telephone line is down, then it suggests the problem could be with your own line. I would report the faulty telephone line, which is given priority over DSL faults, and usually ends up fixing DSL problems.

adsl only requires 1 of 2 wires to sync , there was a stage where i had adsl but no dail tone for 2 weeks , but adsl sync speeds was weird( like yours) , telkom had to replace the whole cable in my home , because it was damaged , was free of charge .

Upstream 507 Kbps, SNR 11.0 dB

Wow, that was quick. Now to do some tests... This is looking promising though!
