The cables are there to connect that box.

In seriousness though, is there any more info about the box itself?

Could be privately done telephone cables and extension, isn't there another similar box somewhere in the house?

White one looks like it could be an alarm system, other one might be from an old intercom?

Probably the cable running from the gate motor and intercom to the intercom phone.

It looks like Live, Neutral and Earth to me, beware that they are not live! Would suggest that you measure for voltage and perhaps cap them with ceramic wire nuts that you can buy at a hardware store.

They look very thin to be electrical cables.
Could have been a jerry job for a single plug? With today's building contractors, one doesn't know what you are getting! I just find it strange that the colour codes are the same as electricity supply.

Good point, never take anything for granted.

Thanks for everyone's replies. We're renting so I don't have any extra info. We do live in a complex so it might be cables for the intercom and to open the gate from within the unit? In hindsight, I probably should've asked someone else in the complex.

The main reason for asking, I want to route a ethernet cable from the top but I've read on a post that it shouldn't be done when there's live electric wires.

Wet the floor stand in it, grab the wires. Let us know what happened.
No FFS DON'T DO THAT.
Get a multi meter at the least or a sparky.
