I go through a router .... can anybody using USB check if WBS has OTA'ed the new firmware already?

Also have they changed anything in the diag interface (e.g. possibly messing with iConnect & utTraceStar)?

Just checked and was still using the old version so decided to manually update. Suppose it's a good sign if I can still send this post :)

I also use a router and i'm not shure if they can do the update OTA if youre connected to a router.. anyone know if the last update that came out was automatically done over a router, will save me alot of trouble connecting with USB etc..
Well shurley it can only be good, doubt theres any harm in updating your firmware... they must have done something cause its been a while since the last update.

OTA update basically requires the UT to be powered and receiving an adequate signal. Whether and how you're connected shouldn't influence it...

Have tried rebooting and power cycling on UTD a few times but no OTA update yet...

For telnet access to UT use version command to check version.

Perhaps version info can be added to utTraceStar?

No speed difference at all it seems however I think at this time of the night it's a bit difficult to say.
Still a bit early to tell but it appears that I am not jumping between towers now (after powering the UTD off and on).

utTraceStar and Iconnect seem to still work correctly by the way.

The one guy at wbs said I was talking absolute bull about OTA updates ... they never occured. But that was a while ago and it was only 1 guy at wbs ---wouldn't take his word for it.

Just a thought, wouldn't it be dangerous to have OTA updates occuring? I mean lets say it's busy updating and I don't know that an update is occuring and I power the thing off in the middle of the update.

The idea would be to download the update to the UT, then do a validation check, then install. It seems like the firmware consists of multiple units, so a complete update would not be required if that is the case...

I then wonder how I got the Feb update - didn't do it manually and certainly didn't take the UTD to a magician ;) Just another clown at WBS...

when i got my iburst UTD and had to phone cuz of wbs's stellar documentation on how to set thefreaking thing up he said that i musnt worry if i get disconnected after a minute or two cuz it was an OTA update...

the modem did disconnect and the modem did do some weird flashing and ****... wether it was an update or not i cannot say... but when i did get round to looking at firmware version it was up-to-date.

anyway did some research and found guys in oz talking about the same over-the-air updates... so seems to be legit.

I second that ... and it doesn't need to be connected via USB for OTA updates. Mine was connected via ethernet, and it still updated way back when. Will check tonight to see whats potting

From what I've been told OTA's can and DO occur.

Looking at how the iBurst firmware update works it's rather resilient.

You can basically uploaded the new firmware and boot it from INSIDE the current firmware... it can then overwrite the old firmware in place ... quite resilient and reliable.

I would suppose that they have not yet released the update to OTA. It's been in testing for a while. The new firmware is dated September.
