How will this work for electric vehicles? Will you need to choose between driving an hour less and charging your phone?

Lol, but I was reading through and I got onto fast charging in general :)
hehe

My mindset is ... why bother to include Qi charging at all, if you're going to limit?

They're obviously sticking to 7.5w in order to promote their own MagSafe - and it's working . So why not just remove it and focus solely on MagSafe ? I haven't met a single Apple users that uses Qi anyway .

The second part is that the real world charging of 15w MagSafe is 10-11w - and although some don't care at all about charging speed, there are others that will want faster charging . Why not focus on upping that speed so that even after losses, it's still a decent charging speed?

In the real world, my phone is on the charger for roughly six hours every night.

Could you educate me as to how much faster than 10-11w my phone needs to be charging to bring it up to speed... you know, while I sleep and don't need, or use, or notice it at all?

Meantime, here's a link to Apple's 35W dual charger so you can max out your fast charge times.

I used a cheapo Qi charger I got from Amazon since 2017 when I got my 8 up until last year when it died and I got this 10W Belkin from Takealot. I just prefer a cradle, these MagSafe circle things like you use on a watch are ridiculous for bedside charging.

Fair enough, can't argue with that. I have no doubt there is a market for it and as you say, no doubt many people will suck up what Apple give them even if it's not what they want/need.

I got one of those with my M2 Air. It is nice but I could do with faster like the 65W on my works Lenovo laptop. Still prefer my craddle for the iPhone overnight on my bedside table though.

You can drive for an hour on 4000mAh? Call the press, assemble the nobel prize committee, rvZA has made a miraculous break through.

Read your post, gave it a think, and I'll be picking one of these up from the collection point tomorrow...

Wow, that's actually pretty neat. I have my watch charger lying on the bedside table and it can be quite inconvenient, but that is a great idea for the phone.

You are giving me ideas now :p
