Apple CEO Steve Jobs resigns

He's still going to be there. He's not ceo anymore, but he's now chairman of the board.
 
Who's going to introduce the iPhone 5? No one wears the polo neck sweater like Stevie...

True, but the role of a chairman in a business is quite different from CEO... his presence will surely be felt but no doubt he will continue to inspire innovation at Apple.
 
As a chairman, I'm sure he will have enough influence to steer Apple in the right direction if the new Ceo runs it into the ground, or maybe its an indication his health has taken a turn for the worst.
 
Hey, if I was a bit unwell, had about 7 billion dollars of personal wealth, created the richest company in the world (briefly this month) and a free lifetime pass to Disneyland I'd consider releasing my reigns too.
Maybe Apple's finest times have now passed but I would not be selling Apple stocks just yet...
 
This letter of Steve only makes official that which has been happening since about January anyway. Tim Cook has been running things a interim CEO and Steve's been on the side more and more, so there probably won't be any drastic changes to the current status quo.

Politically speaking though, it's quite a change for Apple.
 
It wasn't unexpected.

But look at the positive side. There is now a Coo position open at Apple that I can apply for

What sinking ship ? it is the second most valueble company on this planet, and keeps jostling for first place

It was not a shock, SJ has been very ill - and with his disease, it is a wonder that he has managed to continue running Apple for so long. However I don't see any major changes, things will continue as normal, as all the same engineers, and top management are still there

One can only wonder why someone who's never ever met Steve Jobs - and has in no way been harmed by Steve Jobs - would call him a rat.

I think so too. Very strange that will NOW step down. Steve is the heart of Apple and as shown before without his vision Apple will once again slip into the abyss. There is no iPod to lift Apple out of the soon hole they will sink into.
