Apple launches a credit card – Apple Card

Sheesh. Another groundbreaking innovation from Apple. Inventing something that didn't exist before. And the iSheeple will uncritically go for it.

They are in for getting their hands on more money. Innovation is least of their priorities...

The presentation for Apple Pay and the Apple Card was really impressive though.

- Super cool titanium card with no payment info embossed on it
- No fees
- In-depth financial analysis relating to your income and expenditure, with category breakdowns and an overview of upcoming outflows and inflows
- Easy to use debt tools to make informed decisions about how much to repay and how frequently
- Greatly neatened up financial statements
- 1% cash back on all card purchases & 2% back on Apple Pay purchases, paid back daily
- All recurring transactions grouped neatly together
- Supposedly the lowest interest on overdraft

Looked like pretty great banking to me.

I wish we could have it here, have a look at the presentation first!

Not really in the mood for watching the presentation. Did they mention why they are not calling it the iCard?

No, that's not something they would say. Although if I had to guess it's because iCard sounds terrible.

Probably because the whole ithing is sounding really tired and worn out now.

Yeah their presentations are always top notch. Much better than their actual products.

Looks good? I'm not an apple fan boy but this makes sense to keep this all in house. Immediate rewards, and spend history looks nifty.

If they not going to charge you anything for it, and encourage you to pay off your interest sooner, then how are they going to make money?

They will data mine you of course. Now they know what and where you spend your money, they will be pushing more deals your way. Consumerism is crazy in the states, and this is going to be be Apples way of getting a piece of the pie. And to be honest, I don't really blame them.

I can imagine my hotel in Ethiopia, Haiti or Liberia looking at it and telling me to get lost. Looks like a counterfeit.

Merchants get a fee from retailers, Mastercard gets a fee, and the card issuer gets a fee.

Man, if Bank Zero or Tyme Bank or whatever other new age bank we have could strike a deal to provide Apple Card in SA, that would be epic.

iStore already has a general purpose card. Maybe they can handle this stuff as it is.
