Apple Music coming to SA

Pricing information from the iOS 8.4 beta has been added to the article.

  • Individual: R59.99
  • Family: R89.99

I hope the SP would charge this to their contract instead of us having to enter into a deal with Apple directly.

Depending on the content available, that pricing isn't actually too bad.

No chance of that as it will be directly linked to your Apple ID.

Why would you prefer that anyway?

Wow it's very cheap! Almost half price than what you'd pay in U.S. OR UK... Granted all other streaming music services in SA cost R60, but the family membership is going to be a hit!

Great pricing. Just wish they had a website for it as well. The cloud will be Apple's downfall...

Why do you say that? They have been one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world when it comes to the cloud

iCloud has the worst pricing of any major online storage service - $19.99pm for 1TB, $9.99pm for 500GB etc.

Microsoft throws in unlimited OneDrive storage with Office 365, Dropbox has unlimited storage for $15pm and Amazon has unlimited storage for $59.99 per year.

Dropbox, Google Drive and most other services offer a terabyte for $9.99pm.

Price has never been, and I doubt it will be in the future, their downfall. If it's good, people don't mind paying.

I don't think that has anything to do with what backstreetboy was saying.

It's sort of related. No one I know uses iCloud - even the Apple users I know only use it for the bare basics. And it's because the pricing is crap.

The competition provide excellent service, so the price is definitely important.

Big thread derail....

Pricing is excellent but don't believe content will be same as US store.Let's see what happens tomorrow but for now Deezer doing a great job.

If the Android app turns out to be decent and the music catalogue comprehensive then Apple Music could become king of the streaming services.

They had better impress me in the first three months of their probation. Their price is attractive and I so hope the music will keep me impressed for a while longer. I can't wait... Does this mean tho that we have to be on iOS8.4, 'cos I'm still on 8.3 on all my devices:confused:

You have to be on iOS 8.4

Apart from a few albums I have never really had a problem with ZA store's content as opposed to the US store. It was mostly old albums too...

There's a large selection of local music on iTunes too if that is what you're in to.

Yup, it will be whatever is offered locally in our iTunes stone. If you can't see the song, you can't stream it.

Why no trial on Android? I suppose the peasants should be glad Apple music is coming to Android to start with. /s
