what happens if you don't upgrade? will the seat stay In the "I'm a Grandma" position, until you buy a New Iphone?
or the air con not work till you buy the 9.99 dollar upgrade?

maybe you-ll need to purchase iTunes credit for the Electric Windows to work for this month.

actually all jokes aside, could be fun messing with people, getting the speedometer to show a maximum of 5KM/h on the autobahn.
also could be dangerous, what if somebody got a hold of the codes? I mean car hacking does exist,
disable brakes, steering, gear changes and lights, and cause accidents. I do wonder if they thought of that?

Lol yeah right too little too late. Android auto is so far ahead. Apple playing catchup again...
Automotive is another sector where Google's power is rapidly outpacing Apple and other competitors — its Android Automotive partners grow by the year, and includes globally huge names like Ford, GM, and Stellantis (formerly PSA and FCA — which include the marks Peugeot, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, RAM, and Jeep). Expect that list to keep getting longer: As electrification eats into already slim mass market vehicle margins, manufacturers will be eager to offload more and more of their software support to reliable partners who can deliver on consumer expectations with services like, you know, Google Maps.

Makes me want to buy an old Tazz or Corolla and keep it until the wheels fall off

The last thing I need or want, is Apple's pooy made products in my car. I mean just imagine driving a 10 year old car, where the firmware has become so slow that it takes 2 hours just to turn on the aircon, or where you have to replace the entire car when the radio stops working. I hope car manufacturers give Apple the boot, and come to think of it, it may be time for us to give Google the boot as well and move to a OS less dependant on Google and their spying.

“The iPhone-based system could access a range of controls, sensors and settings, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the project is secret.”

Didn’t Tim just recently address this issue of people leaking information.

If you work for madmen, you just bend the rules as you see fit.

And then you change your windscreen and your car stops working.
Obviously that would be a safety feature. If you didn't replace the windscreen with the 200x margin original model, you risk not being to see as far as with the original.
