Apple kills upcoming affordable iPhone — Report

Apple no longer plans to release a next-generation iPhone SE in 2024, according to well-known tech leaker Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a Medium post over the weekend, Kuo said that Apple's supply chain had received instructions to cancel the production and shipment plans for what would have been the fourth iteration of the iPhone SE.

Ah it's a pity but alright. Would've liked an SE based on the XR with the latest internals instead of this botched SE 3 (and they act surprised why no one considers a device stuck on a 10 year old paradigm to not do well).

I am actually surprised at how the iPhone Mini, aka SE Pro, did not do well. I am assuming that the market was not moved by Apple's definition of low-spec and low-priced. Last I checked the Mini was R15k and the SE was R5k less. Personally, I like the Mini (mainly based on looks, the specs are also way better, according to gsmarena).

Sounds like there is a rumor that another rumor won't be happening.

Just me or was the SE models always the in-between phones?

Never bought an SE. Always just been the actual 7/8/10/11 and so on.

iPhone buyers are interesting; did they not say that the iPhone 14/ 14 Max sales did not do as well as they expected? Maybe appetite for the more affordable options is diminishing. Maybe iPhone users are very prepared to dish out the cash (or put a dent on the credit card) for the full iPhone experience, hahaha.
Yeah not necessary, Iphone users dont like compromised products, Go big or go home Buy android.
As a newbie on these iPhone streets, I can agree to this statement, hahaha

As of 2023, iPhone's start at the iPhone X; anything older is just a phone ;)

Yes they did not do well because the iphone 14 is compromised, They cant keep up with demand on the 14 pro though. I hope it makes sense now.

Majority of the time during sport matches/events if someone has a phone out it's an iPhone with 3 lenses.

Everyone wants the premium product these days and I don't blame them. With the amount you have to fork out for the regular, might as well just go for the Pro for a bit more.

Not really in between but rather for the lower end market or those who despaired cling to TouchID for some bizarre reason.

May this finally mean they’ll kill that **** off and put FaceID in EVERYTHING the way it should be.

Nothing as jarring as having one stupid device in the chain requiring me to finger it all the time.

I would love to see kids versions of both the iPhone and iPad.

The Watch too for that matter.

Lower spec in a rugged case, maybe bundled with some kind of app package.

I bought 2 x Fire Tablets + Amazon Kids+ for Christmas because Apple just didn’t have something similar and it would cost me 3-4 times more to DIY it.

Sadly the Amazon Parental Controls leave a hell of a lot to be desired over the Apple stuff.
