And 2 million computers in a quarter.
And more than a million iPhones.
And a zillion iPods....
They`re not so niche anymore.![]()
And by 3.6 percent you meant over 8% right?A mere 3.6% of the US PC market ... kind of sobering statistic ain't it.
Let's talk again when they take on Dell, HP, Lenovo and Acer.
let's talk again when Lenovo and Acer want to take on Apple, shall we?![]()
I dont know - you brought them up as companies Apple needed to catch up with.Do they even compete ???.
So? Since Apple is undeniably in the hardware business . . . Apple wins againI am willing to bet a significant number of Apple users are Windows users as well ... Wintel wins again.
BTW - PC world rated the MacBook pro as the fastest Vista laptop - ironic isnt it.![]()
It makes sense. One of the selling points for Mac hardware these days is its backwards compatibility with Vista.Did they actually installed Vista on a Macbook?
Shame, the poor testers...![]()

Looks like itsa been cracked already. From Slashdot:
"The OSx86 Scene forum has released details of how Windows users can migrate to Apple's new OS, without investing in new hardware -- even though installing Leopard on an PC may be counter to Apple's terms and conditions. The forum is offering full instructions on how to install the system, including screenshots of the installation process. Not all the features of Leopard function with the patch -- Wi-Fi support, for example, is reportedly inoperable. Historically, Apple's likely next move will be to track down and act against those behind the hack."
Yeah - I recall reading something on digg a few days ago.Looks like itsa been cracked already. From Slashdot:

and I'm sure all the people using it bought the OSHuh, and I thought MS was evil?
They hacked our OS so that more people can use it, track them down and sue them.
Do they even compete ???.
But they use the same inards as the rest of the PC makers and even officially support using Windows on their machines.
I am willing to bet a significant number of Apple users are Windows users as well ... Wintel wins again.
Huh, and I thought MS was evil?
They hacked our OS so that more people can use it, track them down and sue them.
How will they sell all that Mac hardware, if OSX was allowed on our puny pcs?![]()
And Apple probably aren't in the mood to create drivers for all the different types of pc hardware out there.
I really fail to see the point in loading Linux or UNIX on a Mac. OS X is a derivative of freeBSD, with the cost added later. They have taken a UNIX-like OS and honed it and smartened it as far as commercially possible so it's rather like Linux may be in 2020. Why bother struggling with bad fonts, peripherals that don't work, partioning your drive and all the rest??
Now with Leopard coming out it is fully UNIX certified. What more would you want in a UNIX system?
