Apple sued for misleading claims of battery life on iPhone 6

Apple Inc. faces an Italian class-action lawsuit seeking compensation over misleading claims about the battery life of older iPhones.

Euroconsumers, an international consumer organization, said on Monday it filed the suit in Italy. The move follows similar cases filed last month in Belgium and Spain concerning users of various iPhone 6 devices.

Apple has been getting too cocky for a while now.

In addition to that, there’s an older update that messed up the battery further, and the rear cam gets blurry when it has to focus on anything 15CM away...
My iPhone spends 50% of the day on the charger. Am I supposed to pay for a replacement for their f@*k up?!

So when did you buy your iPhone 6 new?

I didn’t. My uncle gave it to me November last year after I lost my phone. He had stopped using it after the frustration it caused him following that update. He’s the one who highlighted me on this conspiracy. After doing a bit of research, I discovered that this issue was rampant among iPhone 6+ users, including a mate of mine.
Hell, even the sound/speaker sucks, it’s really low.

Probably a lot more people still using an iPhone 6 than there are people using the Galaxy S5.

Battery life of all devices is an idealised number. Laptops, phones, tablets, watches. Regardless of who makes them.

Which update was that?

Friend of mine that still had an iPhone 6 said the last version of iOS Apple released for it breathed new life into the device. Went back to nearly new speed because they’d optimised it for older devices.

I don’t remember what the speaker was like on the 6, but the 6+ is more than loud enough. And other than the battery being near the end of its useful life the 6+ still works like new. Surprisingly Apple even decided to support it on the latest iOS.

I guess one could argue that this is more evidence of planned obsolescence, but I don’t think a manufacturer should be obliged to continue supporting a device that was new almost 8 years ago, anyway.

Apple guarantees 5 years of updates for every new phone. After that, the onus is really on the user to get something new if the software starts messing with things.
