Apple TV+ – The new Netflix competitor

Will be interesting to see if they bring out a bundle pricing for TV+Music and whether it will be comparable to say Netflix + Spotify. That might make me move back to using Apple Music again.

Not a Netflix competitor if it's not available on Android phones or Android media boxes.

Only a matter of time. To support Roku & FireTV is a good enough start. And to add the support for live tv via bundled services or per channel is pretty cool.

I think there are too many streaming services tbh. Every service has their exclusive. At the moment I'm doing Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Showmax. With Apple and Disney launching, it's too much, people are going to start turning back to piracy. The days of easy streaming might be at an end :cautious:

Streaming is just the new broadcast tv - there's always been a bombardment of choice all over the world. In SA not so much.

We'll see - content is everything and, based on what they showed, it all looks 'safe' and meh!

The aggregation / portal approach makes it more convenient if you use more than one service which is the interesting part. So subscribe to Netflix and Hulu - use Apple TV to watch shows without switching out of the app.

If I understood correctly, 'vanilla' Apple TV will do that - I was commenting on Apple TV+ (which contains the exclusive Apple TV content)

It'll be available on Smart TV's. Who mucks about with media boxes anymore?
I use a Mi Box on my Samsung smart TV. Except for Netflix, the other apps on it are really awful. There's also a big chromecast market that they are missing.

From a content perspective I doubt they will struggle achieving a few hit shows like all the other competitors.

Is Oprah still a thing? I don't think anybody still wants to watch 50 shades of the color purple.

No you'll subscribe to each service for like 2 months a year and watch what you want to watch. The battle is going to be in retaining customers because right now there's no reason for someone with a lot of free time to not cancel Netflix after a month.

More of a Hulu competitor than Netflix.

I think it will be a very long time before Apple TV+ steals revenue from Netflix if it ever happens. The shows they teased sound and/or look like crap, whereas Netflix quality has been on point for a while now. Not to mention the sheer volume of good Netflix content.

Netflix, HBO & Supersport is all I need. Really wish the latter two had standalone subscriptions. I'll be so happy if Multichoice goes with a R149pm premium version of ShowMax with all their non-sport content and a R399pm Supersport streaming subscription, once they finally hit the streaming scene.
