Please refrain from using war metaphors, Bwana does not approve.
This is how journalists try to sound relevant. Don't spoil it for them :D

They throw in these words to get people all excited and try to exploit the various Samsung and apple fans who have this massive inferiority complex and get really upset because someone else has a different device to them :D

Of course it works, because there are lots of insecure people out there, who take the bait. :)

Be interesting to compare the stats to the contract offers from the cellular co's. They pretty much only offer Apple or Samsung...

The average SA consumers don't buy their devices outright.

Its a bit misleading... there are Non-Online versions of the tablets that Vodacom wont have an idea about .. people tether them to their phones.

Its GSM enabled tablets and Voodoocom wont have the foggiest clue on anything else.

There is no such thing as an iPad 3. It is the new iPad :p
There has been 5 generations of iPad, iPad Air being the 5th, iPad 3 being the introduction of retina display hence popularity as entry retina model(albeit discontinued quite quickly/6 month cycle). iPad 2 being popular only because it was continued on production till this year as base/entry model.

In someways aside from proc, memory and co-proc for motion nothing much has changed since iPad 3 except just product refinement & tech improves but not significantly to affect usage models hence older models long replacement life cycle.
