Hi Guys,

Is there a way of checking how long is left on a warranty for a second hand iPhone i bought? Also, the product was registered with iCare so I wanted to know if there's a separate place to check the extended warranty as well?

https://selfsolve.apple.com/

Not sure if iCare will be reflected there, iStore can confirm that.

Something important to note is that the iStore is not nearly the same as the Apple Store found overseas.

Thanks for the info. Used that selfsolve link - still have 8 months left!:) I've email iCare to find out how to check the balance for the extended warranty, just waiting for their response.

Also, I know that the Core Group is different from Apple overseas, but does that still make a difference? I thought they just deal with Apple directly and have the sole rights to distribute - but the guarantee/warranty is still ultimately with Apple?

Another great link is Apple Tech Specs - https://support.apple.com/specs/. Applies mostly for Macs though. You can click Browse by Product, and enter the serial number there. Only way to get the most accurate info.

I couldn't find where to type in my serial number for the iPhone.

So the iCare Plus warranty is separate from the product's standard warranty meaning it won't show up on the website when checking via the IMEI.

The only way to check is to email/call the Core Group (i-care@core.co.za)

In the search box after clicking Browse by Product.

This is an aside though, for technical specifications more than service info.

Yeah, I'm looking more for the remaining warranty period, rather than specs

Does MTN have an in-house warranty after the 12 month Apple warranty, like they do for other manufacturers?

I'm pretty sure you on your own after the warranty. So be prepared to be screwed over by iFix, etc.

That's why I always just extend my warranty with Apple Care.

Hmmm....
Will try a self fix.
SO dropped her iPhone 5c and the screen is black (not cracked, just black).
Not sure if it's just display or digitizer also. Will open up and see if perhaps some jumper leads have pulled out.

Power button and home button at the same time?
If that's it, then yes - it didn't work :(
Rebooted (I could tell by the backlight turning off and on again), but still no display

I opened it up, tried seeing if one of those ribbon cables was loose. Didn't seem to be the problem :(

Have you used iFix? Are they good (and reasonably priced)?
