(can mods make this a sticky please or create a subforum)

Just got my apple watch 38mm stainless steel with black sport band.
Got it from Apple USA.

So far I am very pleased. I have come from a Pebble watch and this baby is miles ahead.

The design is sleek but minimalistic. Slightly thick but the 38mm fits my small wrists perfectly.

The interface is good and touch is quite accurate despite the small icons.
Notifications come through neatly and you can read an entire email if you want.

Cool feature is the ability to reply to messages either with a fixed template reply or by dictating which is always accurately transcribed.

Battery time is decent...I switched off the pulse and activity functions and managed to get almost two days by switching to power save at night.
Currently 85% battery since getting of charger at 7 am today.

Just noted that ABSA mobile banking has an Apple watch addon...so unusual as it has not been officially launched in SA.
Anyway the Absa watch app is cool...lets you see your balance on the go.

Forgot to mention the call feature where you can take or make calls on the watch. Perfect when you on the couch watching telly and phone is sitting more than a beer (non alcoholic) lengths away...

Also bought a generic steel band to dress it up when required.
Quick and easy swopping of straps.

It actually looks very decent with the generic steel band.

I'm not quite yet in the "want" category for this yet and thus very far from the "need" one too.

Maybe in a revision or two I'll change my mind. That being said I almost never wear a watch because of motorcycle gloves so it would be somewhat wasted.

My trusty old Tissot kicked the bucket a while back. Bought an el cheapo Swatch watch to tie me over – want to get the AW, but I'm going to try and hang back for the 2nd Gen...

It's obviously not a dedicated fitness tracker, but seeing the many reports of people changing habits to "fill-up" their activity 'rings', and being reminded to stand up from the desk, periodically, during the day – already sold me.
The fact that it can "also" tell the time, might be able to subtly inform me of specific notifications without having to get my phone out, is a bonus.

Congrats, I'm seriously jealous! Went to the U.S. Twice this year, hoped to buy during 2nd trip but I didn't arrange enough in advance :-(

Got one in Edinburgh during a Euro trip in July. 42mm black sports model. Happy with it and I train everyday with it. Tomorrow I'm taking it for its first mile swim at the gym. Not worried about the waterproof issues. Confident enough that Apple under promised and over delivered on waterproofing. When not exercising the battery last 2 days, otherwise I end up with about 50-60% battery life left.

Just used the passbook app on the watch to board a Mango flight.
Responses from various airport staff along the way.
1. Eish
2. That wont work here.
3. That's so cool (and she was pretty)
4. What's that?
5. Where can I buy one?

Waiting for 1-3 more revisions, I reckon the battery & tech changes will make it worth the wait
