Webafrica slammed over "hidden" R499 processing fee

The Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB) has ordered Webafrica to withdraw or amend some of the advertising on its website after it found it to be misleading to consumers.

The complaint, submitted by Craig Thomas, relates to a hidden R499 order processing fee that Webafrica doesn't disclose in its advertising.

It is about time they are taken to task. Used to be a good ISP, but that was long ago.

Tried to sign up for fibre with them last year October.
After waiting a month for order confirmation I instead signed up with Afrihost. Order and installation took less than a week.
Imagine my surprise when I got an SMS from WA in September this year asking me for payment before order can be processed.:D

My line went offline over a weekend and could not get hold of anyone rendering my "smart" home offline too. So I cancelled the line after using them for 5+ years, they then demanded that I need to return my router they sent me to neology or be charged R999 for the piece of e-waste. Luckily I did find the router and drove all the way to return it costing me another R100 in diesel. I also had to give a full month notice so I had to buy another month of their service. I reflashed all my "smart" devices with tasmota and now I do not need to be online
