Have you guys seen this?

http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...ghz-dual-core-processor-in-a-honeycomb-shell/

Main features:

- 1.5GHz dual-core processor
- Choice of traditional solid-state storage or 250gb hard drive
- Choice of 10.1" or 8" screen sizes

Official product page.

The most important feature here is price. $349 for the 10.1", and $279 for the 8". Doing a direct conversion of dollars to rands, the latter comes out to under R2,000. For a fully-spec'ed Honeycomb tablet. That's seriously impressive.

Here are some hands-on videos from the inquirer:

Archos 80: Archos 80 video

Archos 101: Archos 101 video

They seem good, but in the Archos 80 video the tablet just restarts or something, but it's played off as being a demo unit with low power remaining... but in the Archos 101 video, in portrait mode, the tablet just can't be unlocked! I don't know if this is an Android problem, but that was very strange! I think I may stick with my plan of getting the Asus Eee Pad Transformer...

Looks very cool, like the 250 HD.

So I guess they joined OHA to get acess to Honeycomb.

Email from Archos SA:

Hi,

The new G9 products are expected towards the end of October. Retail pricing should range between R3,199 (Archos 80 8GB) and R4,879 (Archos 101 250GB), subject to exchange rates.

Thank you and regards.

If I didnt have a ASUS Eee pad this would have been my next choice.

And to be honest R5000 for a tablet with 250 gig of space running honeycomb on 1.5 Ghz Dual Core..... Not to bad.

Also at least they get updates, unlike the other brands we know /stares at Samsung

Been playing with these, not bad.

I want the cool 3g card thing. It should work in a normal PC also right? :p
Yes its just a normal 3G stick (7.2 Mbps). Tested it on my pc, works fine. Will go for about R600...

Pretty cool to have a tablet that is upgradable to 3G on the fly. Also the 250GB models should be very handy if you have a lot of media...

Ordered a Archos 80 G9 8GB though Have2Have for R3100 delivered. Bought a nice case/cover for it from eBay for R120. Can't wait for it to arrive next week!

Did you also buy the 3G stick? btw I would rather have gone for the 16GB (Turbo) as it has the 1.2GHz CPU where the 8GB is 1GHz afaik.

To be honest if I did not have an Eee Pad I would have rather looked at the Novo7 range.

Preferably the Advance, if you can get your hands on one as they sell out like hot cakes every time a batch leave the factory.

The hardware on the "Advanced" looks great except for the 8GB internal storage, 512MB RAM and no 3G.
I also see its still on Gingerbread, but will probably get ICS soon?

One thing I can say about the Archos G9 is that it kicks Eee pad a$$ when it comes to HD content playback. (even the 1GHz does)

Nope, no 3G stick. I see it sells for R700 on the .co.za page of Arhcos. If need be, I will connect to the internet via my phone's Wi-Fi hotspot feature of need be. The rest of the time I will use it over my house's Internet.

As for the turbo version - getting the standard one to run 1.2Ghz is not going to be difficult of you root it.

The tablet is in the country so I'm expecting delivery on Wednesday.
