Mine's on its way from them. Couldn't find it on Takealot because it's listed as 'Opti-Guard'... Delivery service from Loot/Fedex hasn't been great.

Which one did you go for? QDOS OptiGuard Glass Screen Protector? (green one)

Yip. iStore said they're the best (but had no stock) and they seem popular online. Could be because of the guarantee. Otherwise I'd love to know what makes them special. :)

Stuff I have ordered from loot has arrived pretty promptly.

Ordered from Takealot, let the logistics race begin!

Now the challenge is to fit it perfectly, or close enough to perfect that the OCD doesn't kick in.

which is the main reason I have been putting it off... :/

Best plan I've seen is to hinge it lengthways with some tape, make sure that it's absolutely true and then clean the screen and whip off the backing.

I've done a couple, not with the tape, but sprayed them with rubbing alcohol before application - you can then move it around a bit until satisfied, and then squeegee the alcohol out. I'm not sure though whether this will have any long-term effect on the adhesive.

My other option was to make it someone else's problem.

Friend suggested a dude at Sable Square China Town who apparently does custom cut screen protectors for new/unpopular phones and applies them on a like a champ. I want something for the back as well, so may be able to get him to cut something for the rear put the optiguard on at the same time.

Good luck! Mine arrived earlier this afternoon.

Wasn't bad, just prefer Takealot. They also give an indication of ETA.

Haha, dreading buying another OptiGuard! I think I'll skip the hinge method and just do the usual top down method. Will do it in a dust free zone.

Have fitted my previous protectors at Sable Square. Would be good do know which guy it is. But the one I think you're referring to used to have a small kiosk store next to a stairway on the left, close to the southern entrance.

take it to the bathroom, have a steamy shower with the doors and windows closed. Then once all the dust has settled clean and apply your new protector and voila your screen is completely bubble free and you smell better ;)

So got my tempered glass screen protector.

Not sure how long I'm going to keep it on though.

Screen is not as sensitive, viewing in sunlight is worse and fingerprint marks are worse.

Getting scratches sucks but having a substandard experience is worse. Didn't pay all this money to have a bargain phone experience.

I've got a 4S and a 6 here, with different makes of tempered glass screen protector on - the 4s has an eBay Z-glass protector on, the 6 has a BodyGlove protector. I haven't noticed any deterioration in sensitivity or clarity/viewing in sunlight on either, but the protector on the 4S is definitely a fingerprint magnet.

Judging by the wide range of prices for any specific model, there has to be a difference in quality/finish of the protectors. What make did you fit?

I suppose using your phone without a tempered glass protector led to shooting yourself in the foot here. Had it been from day one you'd have known no different.

Perhaps go with a standard non tempered glass protector which I believe would be slimmer.
