Amazon is creating another 75,000 jobs nationwide to deal with consumer demand during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last month, Amazon announced it was adding 100,000 jobs, including another 600 in Alabama as it continued to fill all 1,500 full-time jobs at its Bessemer fulfillment center, opening this month.

Just dont think SA is on the radar though.

Tried a number of Amazon products and they all include this message:

Due to increased demand, we temporarily have reduced product selection available for delivery to your region. We are working to improve selection availability as soon as possible.

They probably only want food and essential products to be available to US customers, so have just stopped selling to other countries as going through each individual product would take ages to do.

No they are not shipping. I had two orders canceled. One that did go through JUST before lockdown has been sitting with aramex in Joburg since 7 April.

Hey, I want to purchase a laptop from Amazon USA and have it shipped to Durban. How does it work with Aramex, delivery duration, customs and any other potential fees?

Even if Amazon shipped to SA, there's no way of getting it from the port of entry (eg ORT freight section) to your house. And you may not collect it during the lockdown.

So my advice is wait until lockdown ends in SA, country of origin, and all transit points.

Even before lockdown there were some CDs that Amazon were not shipping, even those fulfilled and sold by Amazon.

Even now you cannot source the latest Lady Gaga and Bob Dylan cds, for example, from Amazon. There are resellers that will ship though. E.g. the latest Bob Dylan CD but at hugely inflated prices and shipping.

It's a good thing nobody buys CDs anymore.

Um, that’s your opinion, I for one still like the physical album even though I rip it immediately.
Do you also use the post office and fax?

2001 called, it wants it's tech back. Are you a visionary hipster of the future, using out dated tech before it becomes cool?

Relax it's fine, nobody judges you, it's just some good old fashioned fun.

It appears Amazon is now shipping to SA again...

Saw that as well. There are a couple of things I want to order. Will see if it is available. Hopefully things can get back to normal now.

Ordered some stuff for my automatic vacuum via Banggood.com, the items took less than a week to arrive here in South Africa and through customs.

Think shipping was like $2 and then another R50 for import fees, but overall very quick to come through the system.

What shipping method did you use the Buffalo shipping option, I think that's what it's called?
