Are SA’s ADSL and fibre prices really that high?

Explain this article's conclusion to me when in the UK I can get Sky with broadband for less than either DSL or Dstv here.

Sky TV is expensive. Don't be fooled by the advertising. The basic price excludes a lot. Easily end up paying £60+ when you get frustrated with the basic rubbish. Their broadband is dirt cheap because it's a loss leader for their more expensive TV packages.

Also remember they don't get shaped into hell and have this crazy 12-6am internet hours.

It's just not something that can really be compared as they are lightyears ahead of us. Yes the full package costs more than over here but what everybody always leaves out is that the basic packages are comparable to the full package over here and costs less. At least they have more to choose from where here if we are frustrated with Dstv premium there's nothing better that's left.

What articles like this leave out is that you can't really make comparisons as the playing fields are as different to each other as land and sea is. For R1000 you can often get a package that includes unlimited calling, internet and video. TL/DR version, all these articles should simply end with South Africans are being ripped off.
