Are suicides in SA investigated by default?

No, a member of my family has borderline personality disorder, and used to overdose from time to time when there was relationship drama in her life. It was very stressful for all of us. Luckily things have taken a turn for the better and this person no longer does this.

I misread your post and assumed that a few of your family members tried to commit suicide. Glad to know that it's over, a family member of mine tried to commit suicide years ago, so I can imagine how stressful it must be if a person makes more than one attempt.

Well, I have to declare any deaths, even suicides and then SAPS must also come on scene and then Forensics collect the body - I listen to them while at work (we share the same channel) and be it suicide or murder - it's always a "inquest"

Yes.Suicides are always investigated. Its the worst type of death for the family to come to terms with.

All the time. The only thing that seems to be neglected is death within24 hours of onset of symptoms. According tothe constitution, it should be investigated unless a diagnosis was already made in hospital
