They sometimes run out of money at the end of the month, its annoying trying to buy something and it says insufficient balance, but other than that they are fine

Yeah. Wtf is it with these banks? Sheesh.

FNB and Standard Bank have both suffered massive issues over the past week.

With this in mind, are you happy with your bank?
Hibberdene CAS 131/5/2023 PRECCA / POCA / Aiding and abetting in a Crime still under investigation. Will be referred back to DPCI this month. I will not be bullied, 46 years serving my country. State will prosecute.

I'm going with Other, because there was no option for "Yes, but there's room for improvement".

On the whole I'm happy with my bank. But that's because their online banking works exceptionally well and I don't have to actually go into a physical bank and deal with them. I mean, most of their physical locations aren't really banks anymore anyway. When you can't transact at the physical location, it ain't a bank anymore. It's an office.

Getting cash from their ATMs is a pain in the hiney, because they have the fewest ATMs available of all the banks around. And they do offer free Cash@Till withdrawals, which is all well and good, except when the Pick 'n Pay you go to has no money in their till when you want to draw cash!

And their security features is also good. Except when I try to make a payment to a beneficiary and have to go through a multitude of authorisations on my banking app, because they keep telling me the payment I'm trying to make might be fraudulent. There's security features to protect your clientele. And then there's just being over-zealous!

So yeah. It's a 70-30 between yes and no when it comes to being happy with my bank, which is FNB, in case anyone was wondering.

This is the reason:

(*) I use multiple banks and they're all kuk.
....(*) Actually I lie. Tyme is pretty good if limited.

I use multiple banks; Standard because I have have long-running accounts); ABSA - mortgage & savings, Tyme Bank

I'm pushing to pay off my home loan in the next 2 years and then close my bank account. Fees killing me.

No No, Standard Bank's fraud department provides NO FEEDBACK regarding the scamming of a huge amount from my account. was hack on numerous occations and a even police case was open and they dont want to assist the police service during the investigation. When you phonethe fraud department you I was waiting for more than 3hours. This is all my money and standard bank dont care...Poor service.

Every bank has issues. The top 5 big banks… same issues overall, just the color differ. It’s much of a muchness.

I am experimenting with Capitec now. I have created the account on the app and registered virtual cards for testing. Not ready to pull the trigger as yet. The banking fees are much better if I compare what I currently pay Bidvest every month (R185) with the transactions I make every month, probably a saving of about R100 or so.

Bidvest is kind of in the stone age. No VC's, no Google Wallet, no Samsung Pay, no tap to pay from the app etc.

Use Capitec as main account, and Bank Zero as backup.

Biggest problem with Capitec is the quality of their cards. But since I use Apple Pay for pretty much everything nowadays, the Capitec card just stays in its protective envelope.

SA Banks are all the same, in it for profit with the customer as an afterthought.

Can't exactly run a business if you're not in it for the profit, after all, that is the goal for all companies.

But I get your point, it feels most times when dealing with the bank that you are just a number
