well that can work, but not all employers do it that way. One of my main gripes would be the fools who go about their phones via speaker.

We resolved that: 2 cordless phones (separate lines) and enough background noise to convince people to make/take their calls outside. Also irritating ringtones are banned in the office.

So my "Liewe Heksie" ringtone won't work?

now there is a thought. take you calls outside; but as i said the problem is with some employers they just stick everyone together and from there on its not taken further to make sure that the working environment is great.

Our office has been designed around our needs. For us its great but would not say it would work for all. Our office keeps no secrets and everybody is involved in everything.

The only downside is disusing confidential or non-disclosure information - this is oftendone after hours or during a "extended" lunch break. Our boardoom is rather private and staff do respect your privacy and avoid listening in.

When I got my first job I got my own office with my name printed there :)
But since then it's always been Open Plan... didn't like it at first cause I thought it was distracting... but now just got used to it... preferably I would like my own office.

Used to be only me in my office but since 11 January, there are 2 more people sharing an office with me and now I actually have to work :(

I don't mind open or closed office but I prefer having my own office. If I am on my own I can concentrate, do my work and browse the web :p Now I have to try and concentrate and also make sure I am not caught with my browser open :D

I'm in an open office...its quite nice, I get to keep an eye on my team.
If I need to make a personal call and need a bit of privacy, I take a walk and do it from my cell phone or I go into a boardroom.
