If you are doing the Argus this year, what time do you expect to get?

After the race, edit your post with actual time so we can see how who's who in the MyBB cycling crew!

I will set the bar fairly low: I am aiming for a sub 5 hour cruise.

Hope it's not too hot!

Supposedly there is a little Boye's Drive thrown into the mix! More hills just to make me feel even more sorry for myself at about 10.30am on Sunday morning:eek:

Well I missed my target (4.5 hours) by almost exactly an hour (5.5 hours).

It was my first one though, so I was just happy to finish.

I had my splits on the handle bars, but I ignored them most of the time as I realised the wind was going to screw up any hope I had. The Simonstown and Smitswinkel stretch was hellish for me though, and those 69km to 60 km remaining signs seemed to be there for hours. The sandblasting was also mightily unpleasant.

Happy to have done it though.

I think most people were about an hour off their expected times. Even the pros were 40min off...

As for me, I didn't even finish:eek:

Got as far as Simonstown:eek:

Well done all who made it to the finish!

For those who follow 5fm...

Grant did 5:30
Anele did 7:15

Had the wind not been there - I reckon their times would've been massively better.

In a case of this Argus, people should've grouped up and helped each other, cyclists in groups ride alot faster, keep the weaker cyclists in the centre - rotate the front rider.

Problem is, the argus is "every man for himself" which is okay, but this race would've been easier had people used their brains and grouped up.

That's three posts in a row now...

What was your time?

I injured my foot, and thought the flats were ok, the climb up Boyes Drive was too much for me. Considering all the hills still to come, I thought that would be the best place to bail. I have done about 12 argus's, so I'm not too worried about not finishing one in what were the worst conditions I have ridden in to date.

I've only done 5.
I didn't do it this year, my bike was stolen a month before and I didn't have money to replace it, but I will do it next year.
I've never not finished a race, I've had some horrible ones but I've always finished them

I have to agree, the Boyes Drive hill is a kaaaarrrrrrkkkk one.

Even though I'm semi happy I didn't do this years Argus, I feel bad because I would've loved to have done it and come out the other side DEAD but still having completed it.
