DURBAN (Sapa) - Five people charged with the murder of two foreigners who were forced to jump off a high rise building by an armed mob were released on bail of R2,000 each by a Durban magistrate on Monday.

A sixth accused, Vusumuzi Khoza, an eThekwini ward councillor, was granted bail of the same amount on January 28.

All six are to re-appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on May 5.

back on topic, no need for shock over the councillor's involvement. most of these councillors hardly passed sub A. remember the survey about their literacy levels? some of them are (ex-)criminals who just wangled their way onto party lists and voila! the electoral system is very flawed - it rewards perceived party loyalty (e.g., shouting "i will kill for zuma") over substance.
