Man, those police are bastards, why should we respect the police if they are not respect worthy?

Anyway, this is typical african-police-culture at play, which is even worse and more corrupt than apartheid-police-culture...

I hope they nail the police's @sses to the wall.

It is the oldest trick in the world being used by police all over the world.
They misuse their power and when they get caught they try and charge you with any stupid charge to intimidate you.

These fools arrested this man illegally, doesn't matter which way you look at it. They can't be charged for resisting arrest because the arrest was illegal. Now they charge them with crimen injuria. Since when is it a felony to call a stupid ******* a stupid *******.

All they are doing is to hassle the couple now. They have to go to court and in doing it can't go to work. This case will be thrown out of court so quickly you can't even blink.

Please sue these clever city braves asses of them. For good measure do the same with the city counsel. Then you will see these glorified untrainable fools lie through their teeth.

If I recall correctly it was only last week that one of these imbiciles said: "Eish, sorry, we are still learning."

I think this whole story started in a similar way that the Carte Blanche program showed us. Unfortunately the muslim refused to pay a bribe because he is a ligitemate South African in any case. Our robbers in uniform was stumped. The worst is their superior, Minnaar, is immediatly ducking the issue.

Nail the thieving bastards.

by law you have to carry your ID document, and seeing as it was a pedestrian roadblock I'm not surprised he was arrested when he couldn't produce one..
the cops were obviously on the prowl for illegal immigrants, which is a good thing! that being said, the racist remarks are unacceptable!

I bow to your superior knowledge.

Which act forces you to carry ID?

Pray, show me where racial remarks were made.

Based on what law? Pedestrian roadblock just sounds like a joke anyway. Maybe it is a good thing, but the ends don't justify the means in this case.

I admit I don't know the exact law, I just remember seeing on SABC news around a year ago they were doing spot checks on pedestrians in Joburg cbd to see if they were carrying ID documents, and they were fining them R100 to R200 (if i recall correctly) for not carrying them.
I've carried mine on me since then...

from the article:
Makgati, a Muslim born in Benoni, claims the metro police officers told him that his "Muslim hat" made him look like "a foreigner and a terrorist"
maybe 'racist' is the wrong word, I should have used 'discriminatory' instead..

Reading the report again:

How would I be able to prove that I'm not an illegal immigrant?

I only speak Afrikaans and a version of South African English fluently, with a minimal knowledge of any of the other official languages.

I hope he nails these bastards to the wall.

The information on that paralegal site is somewhat contradictory in places so I don't know how well it has been researched. They also really need to add references to the applicable laws.

tokio sexwhale was unavailable for comment, however his office representative, Baghdad Bob, restated that the UK airports racially profiled him and that this practice does not take place in south africa.

It's not discrimination, that's the way terrorist's dress.

I'm probably pouring oil on a fire here, but not all terrorists are Muslim. And by the same statement, not all Muslims are terrorists.

For all we know, we could have a bombing in parliament tomorrow and some person dressed in traditional African garb owns up to the act. Is he now excluded from being labelled as a terrorist because he's not dressed as a Muslim?
