Bloody Premier League. Just posted highlights from that match. Amazing that Arsene Wenger had a team with Walcott, Djourou and Squillaci battling for the title with Man United that year. Of course, after that match it didn’t matter in the end because we pretty much just capitulated: United ran away with it, and we ended up 4th.
Back then the season use to go one of 2 ways: a serious run for the title and eventual collapse around boxing day or a disastrous start to the season and finishing the season as one of the most in form team in that year.

I secretly wished we went out in the group stages and got dumped into Europa during that period.

Thing is just had a look at the table: even with United just sprinting to the end, we were only 3pts away from 2nd, but finished 4th behind Chelsea and City (who would go on to win their first title the following year - “Agueroooooo”).

Marginal calls and blatant fouls going Newcastle's way. Need that goal soon while the crowd is lulled somewhat

Beginning to look like one of those games that may be decided in the 90th minute. We can’t seem to hold onto the ball for more the 5 seconds. Passing is way off, especially from Ramsdale.

Calling it now: Gabi comes on, chilling on the halfway line. White punts it upfield, Gabi is through, slots it bottom corner. Ref blows for time, 3pts in the bag.

Maybe a year in Europa will better suit us while the team builds. Again the soft underbelly has been exposed

Cool, Europa it is. Can’t say we deserve much more based on tonight’s performance.

It sucks. But don't think we're ready for Champions League. The likes of Real Madrid will destroy us

Europa still an improvement. Few more signings and year of further building should see us better placed for it

You know what will happen

Spurs will lose to Norwich and we’ll draw against Everton….

No distraction of European football. Out of both domestic cups early on. Only the league to focus on to get us back into the CL. We literally only had ONE job. But trust us to **** even THAT up.

We simply weren’t up for it tonight at all. Everyone knew how much we needed a win but we looked like a team trying to stay up. We simply don’t deserve CL football anyway, we haven’t earned it like the other teams who will be there next season.
