Thought that’s why we bought Marquinhos.
Tbh I completely forgot about him.

But he is only 19, and there has even been talk of him going on loan. No idea.

And there was the Raphinha thing, so the definitely looking for a wide attacker

Only a year younger than Saka, but doubt he’s anywhere near his level, so probably getting shipped off to the Championship to toughen him up for the Prem.

Weird thing is, apart from Jesus and Zinny, I haven’t really been very convinced by any of the other rumours, especially Raphinha. He was always set on Barcelona anyway.

But yeah, some type of winger would be handy, because we’re a bit screwed down the right flank of Saka gets injured. Heard about this Ivorian fella named “Pep”-something. Quite handy on the wing, but only if he has game time.

Don’t think any of our preseason opponents got the memo that these are friendlies.

Sounds silly, but I am quite excited for the 2023/2024 season. It’s clear to me that there is a LOT of quality in this team already.

The goal for this season should be 3rd/4th and the Europa league cup.

Haven’t said anything, because I don’t want to jinx it, but I actually share this sentiment.

Sure, it’s only preseason, but we looked like we were at least a month ahead of Chelsea with regards to preparation and fitness, so whatever we’re doing behind the scenes is clearly working.

It is going to be very different to previous seasons because *touches wood* we’ll start with signings who have been properly integrated with the rest of the team for a few weeks already, and with most of the team fit. I’m going to our final preseason outing at the Emirates on Saturday, so will be nice to not have to stay up until the wee hours to watch us play for a change.

Predictions for the season? Having looked at how other teams have prepared compared to how we’re doing, I think we’re in a good position to go full speed ahead when the season starts. We need a decent log position when the WC break happens, and if our players can stay fit when the tournament ends, I’d expect us to at least be going for 3rd or 4th this year, and at a minimum making a real go of all the cups, but most importantly, the Europa League. Nothing wrong with being a cup club for now while we’re rebuilding: silverware is silverware.

When is our first PL match this year? Sometime next week right?

Need to sub to stupid ViaPlay for this.... ffs I'd really prefer British commentary for this. Are there good quality Twitch streams or something for these matches or am I stuck with Dutch?

I won't take much into the 4 - 0 over Chelsea after all Liverpool lost to United with the same margin but it feels good to see what we again have a player that can just put away chances with ease that Jesus does.
