Something needs to change here. We’ve been mostly pegged back for the better part of an hour already.

Absorbing that much pressure to score against the run of play is a great indication the teams character.

This is a game we would have lost in years gone by

Definitely. Especially against a team that we’ve only had one win in eight previous encounters against (before tonight). Before the second goal they had over 70% possession.

So nice to win on the opening day for a change.

Mid was a bit flat from about 30mins on, so goes without saying the front line didn’t get much service at all. The back line definitely earned their wages tonight. Saliba deserves the MOTM on his debut.

Most impressive thing about tonight was Carragher and Neville complimenting us for a change.

Arteta needs to be braver with subs.

That said if Arteta's sub strategy suddenly changes and apes whatever Pep or Klopps sub strategy will be this weekend to the tee next week. The board should just stop wasting time and just sack him the moment a top tier manager that suits our squad is available.

Last night's game reminds me our Liverpool game last season where for much of the game we were the better side. Yet they managed to hold out and score 2 goals against the run of play. In spite of being the better team, they got the log points.

There's just so much about last night's game to give us optimism for the season. I believe we can finish 3rd and close the gap between City and Liverpool
