Arteta needs to be braver with subs.

That said if Arteta's sub strategy suddenly changes and apes whatever Pep or Klopps sub strategy will be this weekend to the tee next week. The board should just stop wasting time and just sack him the moment a top tier manager that suits our squad is available.
Are you drunk?? Not even sure what this post means

Owen was super complementary with Wrighty

Ah, I was watching on Sky. They were actually quite pleasant when Arteta walked over to speak to them, too. Nice change from them dancing last year at Brentford.

Will try give my £0.02 on most comments above.

Zinny was signed for his ability to provide much better cover at LB than Tavares could, but also because he can play at CM (which is where he plays for Ukraine). He was awesome going forward yesterday, as he as defensively, but he seemed to wear out as the game went on, and seemed shattered by the time KT came on.

The subs thing could hurt us if we don’t bring in any more signings. The only teams who can actually benefit from it are City and Liverpool, because their benches can walk into any other club’s first XI. For City especially, they can swap out like-for-like from the bench: they’re just that good across their entire squad. We have Eddie and Nico…

Partly didn’t do a lot wrong last night, but he didn’t do much else, I felt. I wonder if the booing affected him it all? Ødegaard put in shift when it came to tracking, but he was creatively off it for some reason. And I still can’t figure out why he tried to back heel it in the area when a shot was easier.

Jesus is just mental. Think it was Carragher who said he looks like he’s still playing for City, which I think is something that will over time improve the players around him. But he seemed so isolated as the match wore on. We’d get the ball after another wave of Crystal Palace battering us, he’d be up there on the half way line, but we just never got the ball to him. Having seen how he slides through 3-4 defenders, I have no doubt that he’d be able to break away if we just hoofed it up to him. His work rate off the ball is much appreciated as well, and he always hounds defenders.

We won our first match of the season at what has been a difficult ground for most teams to go to in recent years (us especially). Vieira is a good manager, and his players are as physical as he was, so they’re not an easy team to play against. Arteta confirmed last night when asked that it’s actually intentional that Gabriel, White and Saliba are big, physical lads. I can remember recent CB partnerships that were just bullied - not this lot. Point is, previously, we may not have come away with any points last night. But things are starting to become clearer. It’s becoming easier to understand “the process”. And I like what I see.

Not going to get gassed, because we still have another 37 games to go, interrupted for a month by the WC, with a sprinkling of FA and League Cup fixtures. Oh, and the Europa League. So game-by-game will do.

What makes Zinchenko an excellent signing is exactly because with him and Xhaka on the pitch they are interchangeable. Xhaka is excellent at proving left side cover when the LB moves forward.

I think there will still be another incoming, and Tomiasu, Vieira, Smith-Rose missing yesterday

All's I'm saying it's his 3rd season and he should be implementing his own strategies not copying other manager's. In terms substitute strategies.

You seem to forgot that he was educated by Pep. The majority of what we do in training and even in matches is Arteta trying to emulate Pep, while throwing in his own flavour. Given that Pep’s the most successful EPL manager in the last decade, I don’t see much wrong with that.

He can't be Pep Lite forever.

I get the feeling that Arteta is the owner's man and Edu is assigned to look after him.

Episode 4 Auba said nothing all episode which seems very suspect.

Second batch done. May get stick for this, but every episode so far (even the cringy bits) has made me love the club even more. It’s a stark reminder that they’re all just human at the end of the day. Players who I appreciate more, not just because of their performances, but now that I’ve seen a bit more off them off the pitch, are Ramsdale, White and, yes, Xhaka. But most of all, while there were times he made me want to bash my head against the telly, I’ve become a huge Arteta fan.

Like one of the fans said, the group of players that Arteta has brought together to form the current squad have made us fall in love with Arsenal again. During preseason, for the first time in a very long while, I actually felt that way, too.

Not at all. I’m getting old and soft, but it made me feel really good. Reinforcing why I love football (arsenal).
Else what’s the point.

The “cringe” is bullshit. People think real life is supposed to be like the movies, else it’s fake, when obviously the opposite is true. If you are a manager/leader at work, and people respect you, no one thinks it’s cringy when you say something corney or not in a “perfect” way. They respect you more because you are showing yourself.

People are going to be extremely conflicted when they see Xhaka :D (which was obvious from episode 1 when he has the interaction with ESR about getting #10)

Going to go watch episode 4 now

For “cringy” I was referring to the “You’ll never walk alone” bit that everyone was going on about after it aired. I actually thought it was ingenious that he tried something unique like that in training, and shows that he’s not above trying different things to get the best out of the players. People also took the piss out of his sketches, but to me it showed he genuinely cares about the club, but most importantly, the players. And I have nothing but respect for him because he didn’t try and hide any of it.

The cringe is that he's doing stuff from movies in IRL. I can see why so many players fell out with him, he's methods are very polarizing. He does seem to know this which is why he seems to ruthless with players.

Arteta comes of an inexperienced manager who trying everything to see what sticks. Edu comes off as his father figure supporting and help guide him through "the process"

I really thought that Arteta was in charge of "the process" but in reality his learning on the job and gaining experience is a part of "the process" , with the Edu being the one who is actually in charge of "The process"

__________

Ben White seems to have a good head on his shoulders, I like how he was disinterested by the pep talk from that coach. He seems like a very no nonsense get things done guy who does not need his ego fluffed
