Just over 72hrs of the transfer window open. Where do you think we still need to strengthen?

For me, another striker (an injury to Jesus, and we’re stuck with Eddie - he’s improved, but if he gets injured, too?), cover for Partey (no coincidence we struggled against Fulham), and the winger that we let Pepe go to get in.

Zero % chance that 3 players are going to come in.

Maybe 1, and will be a wide forward

They might even wait till January to get the right player. It’s basically 2 and a bit months until the January transfer window

No teams have 3 very good players for every position, obviously

On the game, I think the score and order of goals skews things.
We absolutely dominated them, there was no struggle.
2.5xG vs 0.8xG (which includes the Gabriel gift)
72% vs 28% possession
22 (8) vs 11 (3) shots (on target)
2 vs 1 goals

Honestly, Partey’s absence left a gaping hole in the middle on Saturday. We just weren’t able to transition the ball from the back as well without him, so I reckon we need some serious like-for-like cover as a transfer priority.

In random transfer news, we’ve somehow been linked with Griezmann (yes, again), but looking at his age, he just doesn’t fit the profile.

Right, so we’re going to have to accelerate that midfield transfer now. Elneny picked up an injury in the Fulham game, and is apparently out for the long term. That leaves us with Sambi as cover for Partey and, unless he turns into prime Kante overnight, we’re in trouble.

We have known since last season we need cover for Partey. How we haven't addressed it yet is unbelievable. Giving off Wenger vibes here.......problem is standing out like a sore thumb be we doing nothing about it. Besides Jesus cover for Partey is probably the most important signing.

Play Tierney at LB with Zinchenko in the midfield or Tomi at RB with White playing there. We have options

we'd better get tielemans on speed dial

Zinchenko can play as an 8, we need a 6. Xhaka has made progress this season as an 8, and could technically play the screening role if Zinny moved forward, but he’s a liability when he plays deeper.

is there anything to suggest that tielemans can play 6? isnt he just a worse Xhaka?

that being said, hopefully arteta has learnt not to sacrifice players for the short term, and dont not play Partey or Zinchenko unless they are 100%

rather keep them back for Utd, and just play Sambi and change the shape a bit

xhaka doesnt have the speed and cant resist the press like like partey when played at 6, teams have targeted him before

Seeing how sparingly Tierney and Tomi have been used this season, we may have finally stopped rushing players back. KT didn’t even finish the game recently, so more cotton wool is a good thing, cause when he breaks he really breaks.

Villa have clearly taken the decision to be physical tonight.

Hoping Martinez doesn't have a particularly great game, definitely capable of frustrating us
