moaning about the twitter account...... get a grip man

A team with Messi, Coutihno, Suarez, etc, who also just won their domestic league, can post as much drivel as they want, as far as I'm concerned. They're going to sign more world class players, and probably win more trophies this season.

We're all Gooners at the end of the day, whether it's part-time, full-time, or over-time, and threads like this allow us to express ourselves - whether it's constructive or not. Yes, some of us (myself included) go off the rails sometimes, mostly because after 20+ years of supporting this team we're emotionally (and sometimes financially) invested in it - sometimes too much.

But, the important thing is that we never let our opinions get in the way of the comradery formed through what is ultimately the love of Arsenal Football Club.

QFT. We are the Arsenal.

Seriously though, they need filler before the new kits release. I don't think we're going to see anything happen till the new kit is on sale.

Also, Coutinho is a prime example of what I was talking about earlier. Liverpool sold him - as difficult as it was - and then reinvested that money into the squad. Then again, they do have Jon Henry as an owner while we're stuck in our own Gillette-Hicks Hell for the foreseeable future.

You have a point: had a look, and in hindsight my freakout was a bit unwarrented as most of our transfers have usually only started trickling in from 1 July onwards. Özil was deadline day, if I remember correctly. So yeah, maybe just need to wait and see what happens when the adidas deal goes live (I know I'll be buying a shirt this season - the Puma ones mostly got a skip from me).

We all have different ways to deal with supporting the arsenal

I am personally waiting for Arsenal to tweet Mustafi good luck on his new adventure in Italy/Spain/ManUtd

Re: Özil. No Arsenal fan minds keeping him, or even keeping him on £350k a week. As long as we get the Özil that we first signed, that had the highest number of assists and key passes across all 5 top leagues in his first 2 seasons.

But this current version needs to piss of to Turkey ASAP.

Do you think we've seen peak Ozil?

That's the thing: I think he's still there. His game has never been about blistering pace. He parks himself in that hole behind the strikers and works his magic. On his day, I think he's currently still the best No 10 in the world. BUT, for some unknown reason, he refuses to come to the party for most games, sometimes literally not turning up (his nickname is Sick Note for a reason).

Everyone has a go at him for not tracking back or defending. But it's not his job. He's there to create, and his vision is second to none. We've all seen him do it and thought "how the **** did make that pass? The guy wasn't even on the screen yet!". About a year after we signed him, that changed, because we've rarely deployed him where he wants to be. We've forced him to play a game he doesn't want to. And the end result is **** Özil, which no-one likes.

We have these flashes of his brilliance - curiously they've come when he's been given the captain's armband lately - and we usually smash the other team when he's on form. And then he just won't be in the squad for the next game because he's ill, but is on Instagram getting a tattoo or doing something random. I just don't get that. And then he'll play in a big, important game, and it's like we only have 10 men on the field.

After his first season, I always thought he was wasted at Arsenal because at Madrid he'd be feeding the likes of Ronaldo every game - someone who could thrive with a creater in the team. We had Giroud. But he somehow still raked up the most assists in Europe. That number could have been even higher if he had quick, powerful strikers in front him. Fast forward a few seasons, and our line is now led by Lacazette and Aubameyang. Could you imagine what would happen if we had THAT Özil doing his thing behind them?! Sadly, we have 2019 Özil - still the same quality running through his veins, but it sometimes seems like he's lost interest in playing for us, and is just happy collecting his pay cheque.

I get where you're coming from but isn't he like 30? I think Ozil is a goldilocks player and he needs the team built around him. If we're going to go with project youth part deux, we can't afford to have our star player at home when we travel. Any sane fan wants an in form Ozil but can we afford flashes of brilliance on 350, 000 a week?

Makes sense. Get in Tierney in and ship Kolasinac. Over to you Raul.

Tierney would be a direct replacement for Nacho, not Sead, I reckon. Reminds me of Robertson at Liverpool, which is a great thing. With Bellerin back, we'd have two of the quickest wing backs in the league. Sead could be retained and used further up the wing (cause he can't seem to defend for ****, despite making the Bundesliga team of the year before we signed him).

Özil isn't overly physical - doesn't get stuck in, and isn't box-to-box - so his age isn't really an issue (Auba just turned 30 - and he's peaking at the moment). Ideally, we shouldn't build the team around him, as we end up with a single point of failure when he doesn't play. We could set up the team again, but without anyone to slot into place, it would just fall apart.

As for the coming season, we've seen Emery tinker around with different formations constantly - I think it threw our own players off a number of times. They'd be running around the pitch clueless sometimes. That needs to stop.

In a nutshell, this is my issue with Sead.

I know Nacho's legs is gone but we signed Lichtensteiner and it's not like he's going to be first choice - LB or CB. I think we could get decent cash for Kolasinac given we signed him for free and with our current financial issues, Emery cent helps.

:p

About Ozil. I really do get it but for how long will we have peak Ozil. Assuming he peaks again.

Lichtensteiner aka Lichtsteiner ( don't worry, I used to make the same mistake) has apparently been released.

Ozil got married, hopefully he will be able to concentrate better on his game.

I believed Percy would never leave....especially considering how long we kept nursing his injuries.
Why would he go to United though? He finished 6th in 2017/18, I'm sure he doesn't want to repeat that.

If they pay £100m, I'd take it if I were arsenal and use to build a more complete team. He's worth at least that much.
