So here's an idea: pay the agreed fee for Saliba, and send Kos the other way as part of the deal so that we don't have to wait an entire season to get our player.

As for the "€45 million" that supposedly is the only money a club the size of Arsenal has available to spend, it's pretty much been that amount for the last few years that we haven't been in the CL. So where does money like the £56 million we paid for Aubameyang in a January transfer window come from suddenly? And we only signed Lacazette a few months earlier, remember, bringing it close to £100 million for just 2 players (we also signed Mkhitaryan for about £30 million).

Last season, we brought in Torreira, Leno, Sokratis and Guendouzi for almost £70 million total.

Nah, I reckon the "£45 million" is just thrown around every season to create media spin. We'll get a few players through the door before the season starts I reckon. I don't see us spending £25 million on a CB who's not even going to play for us this season otherwise.

I have not the foggiest, but what I do know is that we need backs an midfield players in a bad way, good ones, or we are heading for relegation, zone.
City and recently Liverpool have raise the ante significantly. Tottenham, are not sitting idle either.

About £300mil for the duration. And all kits sold out within 72hrs of the launch on the adidas and Arsenal stores. So potentially a **** ton of money. Of course, that has nothing to do with transfers as Kroenke, being 100% owner of the club now, can just filter it directly into his bank account if he wants. He, more than anything, is the primary factor behind the club's decline.

Doubt we'll be in the relegation zone. Might settle in the middle but not lower

11 - 12 - 13, is getting to close for comfort ...

But it all depends on whether we buy or not, and currently Arsenal cannot be relied on to play like demons every game, to much of a roller coaster team, i.e. up and down. However one looks at it, it is not likely to be a good season.

It’s seems very likely that the team will go from finishing 1 point behind 4th to finishing 11th, 12th or 13th

What should be more of a concern is how the point difference between 1&2 and 5&6 was pretty much the same as between 5&6 and 19&20. The "Top 6" is becoming a joke at this rate tbh.

Looking at our own performance over the last couple of seasons (Wenger's last and Emery's first) we've actually improved slightly, but still fall horribly short. Liverpool got 97pts and STILL didn't win the league. How the hell can Chelsea, Sp*rs, Arsenal and United realistically be expected to compete?!

We need to forget about a top 2 finish for at least a couple more seasons - the Leicester season was still our best chance in a decade and we couldn't even capitalise on everyone else being ****. Instead, we only need to be better than the teams immediately around us for now.

And it starts with not taking ANY game as a given. Play the best possible XI available for every EPL and EL game. Leave the tinkering for the League and FA Cups, but still put out a strong side. Losing fixtures against teams outside of positions 3-6 isn't only embarrassing but it's also demoralising - for the players and the fans. Our run-in last season was the "easiest" yet we lost to Everton, Wolves, Crystal Palace and Leicester. No matter which way you look at it, they are lesser teams and at worst we should've drawn those games (especially at home to CP). Before the start of game week 32 we were comfortably in 3rd, and we somehow threw it away.

For 2019/20, if Arsenal just stick to the basics for once, we'll do OK.

Not if we field half the Under 20 team, to replace those who left.

By all appearances, the club is sitting on the porch wanking, while making half hearted offers. A bunch of headless chickens would likely have been more decisive. Half the transfer window gone, and not much to show for it, and what is left, does not appear any more promising.

It's important to understand that for a team like Arsenal, with an owner who doesn't give a **** like Kroenke, it's never going to be a case of "here's the money you want for your player, now hand him over".

So what we do (for every transfer) is get a top 10 list from the manager (after months of scouting), then it comes down to who's a viable/realistic target, and then down to who we can afford. Then the offers start going out, and we see who bites. In the mean time, every news outlet starts linking us with outlandish offers for random players to sell more papers. It's an industry unto itself. Meanwhile, we quietly go about our business with our secret transfer kitty (£45 million? Don't buy that for second, we've had the same amount available for the last 5 transfer windows or something) and right at the death we unveil our newest signing in some cringey video.

Just about every signing in the last few seasons has gone down the same way. How long before we actually showed him off posing in an Arsenal kit were we linked with Lacazette? Aubameyang? Torreira? Leno? Sanchez? Ozil?! I could go on, but you get the idea.

Of course, transfer fees do become a problem when the values of players who we may have had an interest in suddenly go through the roof because someone like McGuire is going to United for £80 million. It totally screws up the market for everyone else who doesn't have oil money, but it's the nature of the modern game.

Ivan Gazidis. That guy fcuked up big time. D!ckhead!

And AW.

Kroenke gets some of the blame for letting it go on so long. Not making money available is fake news.
We spent plenty. On players like Mustafi, Xhaka. Giving largish/longish contracts to bench players. Not signing players because it would kill X, who turned out rubbish. That is all AW and gazidis

Well yeah, there is that, but the new crowd, including Emery, just seem to be trundling down the same lane ...

Sort of same old, same old ...
