Did call it a few weeks ago.
I don’t recognise this £40m figure, I have read it a lot. That doesn’t come from us, that doesn’t come from the club. The numbers never come from us. We never ever, ever, ever talk about how much money we have to spend because that’s the least helpful thing you can do. Raul’s job is hard enough, if you go into a negotiation and everyone knows how much money you’ve got, it doesn’t really help.
Ah right, so what I meant was that I'd pretty much said previously a few weeks ago that it's always a random number that's thrown around (not by us, mind you), yet we always spend way more than what we supposedly have available (about £100mil a couple of seasons ago on Lacazette and Aubameyang when we only had £45mil). We have one of the largest kit deals in football, rake in a couple of million every televised game from television rights and sponsors displayed in the stadium, etc, etc - a stadium that is now paid up.Not sure though cause I read this at the Arseblog.
Which makes a lot of sense although Swiss Ramble did break it down quite well. We could also be paying in instalments. If the deal for Pepe is true, this will have been a good window - like we might have the best forward line in the league good, and this is before Edu starts his work proper. I think we're being pretty smart with our business.
If the deal for Pepe is real, does that also mean that the bid for Zaha was just a smokescreen?
It might not be the papers for us but most EPL fans are googling for transfer news and going to many different sites and they are getting their hitsAh right, so what I meant was that I'd pretty much said previously a few weeks ago that it's always a random number that's thrown around (not by us, mind you), yet we always spend way more than what we supposedly have available (about £100mil a couple of seasons ago on Lacazette and Aubameyang when we only had £45mil). You guys probably don't feel it is as much, but here in the UK the football transfer window is like a soap opera with huge money involved. They still need to move papers out of season, and most of the "transfer" news is just made up by the media to entice viewers/buyers. I've learnt to only start believing it when someone like David Ornstein mentions something (he's a don), or when I see a player holding up a shirt.
Zaha could just have been a ruse - again, Arsenal rarely announces that they're interested in someone because it simply just gets out of hand very quickly. I don't believe we bid for him. If we did, then CP are going to kick themselves because we're signing Pepe (who could be better) for pretty much the same amount.
Mustafi They want soldLost the Emirates Cup to Lyon in the 2nd half, so looks like we need to find a CB in the next 2 weeks after all. Unless, of course, we plan on winning all our games 3-2 when our new attack is settled in. Out scoring the opposition is always more exciting than trying to defend a 1-0 lead, after all!
Is it decided? Reports say he wants to stay and fight for his placeMustafi out ! hallelujah - good riddance and f**k off
