Right lads, here we go! Another 9 months of pain and suffering with a sprinkling of joy here and there. Or could things go differently (read: right) for us this season with the addition of Ligue 1's top scorer and a Panzer tank of a LWB? One or more quality signings before the window slams shut on 1 September and this will be our year, surely?! There's the small matter of the opening league match on 11 August against Leicester that needs to be navigated first, though - which is also the first Friday night opening game in the EPL's 25-year history.

There aren't any Europe League fixtures available, but here's who we'll play in the league directly after our European commitments (only group stages for now, so could get potentially worse):

Matchday 1 Chelsea Away
Matchday 2 Brighton Home
Matchday 3 Everton Away
Matchday 4 Man City Away
Matchday 5 Burnley Away
Matchday 6 Southampton Away

I don't know if this has been mentioned before but if you install the Premier League app you can sync your team's fixtures with your phone's calendar.

does this give you europe and cups too? I normally just use the official arsenal.com calendar which syncs into my gmail

What?! We're playing this Friday night? I'm not ready, please postpone everything until after the weekend :p

European draws are not done yet since there are still teams in the playoff pre-group stages.

So I wonder who's still on the way out?

Jenkinson, Debuchy, Joel Campbell, Gibbs, Lucas Perez?

No sure if we're making anymore signings, but Wenger did hint that their will be some exits. Problably going to be deadline day stuff.

Seems Sanchez is going to complete his final year. Not a lot of chatter about him leaving. Ozil?

I'm sure both Sanchez and Ozil will stay - Ozil isn't that in demand. At least it means, if he stays, Sanchez will give his best to make himself marketable. Joel Campell was wasted, being chucked out when he's performed better than some of our high paid regulars.

If only we can get rid of Arsène Wenger.
Just can't believe he signed 2 more years.

Yeah problem is we don't operate like any of those clubs. Fergie aside, every one of those managers got sacked. Additionally only three won it with a PL team. As tough as it is to accept, we're just never going to sack him. I'm tired of flogging that horse. I've decided to be a good Gooner this year and back my team no matter what AW says or does. I still respect him and appreciate all he's done for our club, and will actually miss the old git when he finally leaves some day - in like 2037.

Paris Saint-Germain are still in the race to sign Alexis Sanchez this summer and, despite knowing his first preference is Manchester City, feel they can test that position as well as the resolve of Arsenal by putting forward the type of financial package that proves too good to turn down.

And then....

Arsene Wenger has ruled Alexis Sanchez out of Arsenal's Premier League opener with Leicester on Friday due to an abdominal strain.

The Arsenal boss added that the Chile international is also doubtful for the following week's game at Stoke.

Hmmmmmm......if, and it's a big if, this is true I'd sell and proceed to offer Monaco a boatload of cash for Lemar. On the Charity Shield, Kolasinac is a baws! I'm looking forward to seeing opposition players bounce off him. Granit's passing looked superb and I thought he kind of grew into the game. Pity about Lacazette's miss but he had a good game too. Finally, Alex Iwobi, that kid has some serious talent. I think he should start against Leicester.

Btw, Friday night football is rubbish!

Worse than Thursday night football? :p

I think Lacazette has not clicked for us yet. Don't think we're used to playing with a striker like him. He's not had a lot of chances so far (could be that we've been missing Ozil & Sanchez), but he looks sharp when he gets a shot.

He is very different from Giroud and we'll need to adjust to that. It's two very different options and we're going to have to adapt to whomever we have upfront at the time. If we can to that effectively I think we're in for a good season. For both of them to be effective we're going to have to play to their strengths.

Kolisinac looks very effective.

Defensively I'm a bit worried. We've had a makeshift defense all pre-season and you want that to settle a soon as possible. Going to be interesting to see who starts when everyone is fit.

Friday night football as a start...just doesn't feel like it would during a weekend

On the bright side - you have the whole weekend to recover from the hang over :D

posting so it can be in my participated :p Friday night weirdness, lekker.

Guys, whats the news on Mustafi?

He is in my Fantasy team and they say he might not play

He's not injured. But he played for Germany in the Con Fed Cup. Wenger normally give these players a longer rest. Kos is suspended. Mertesacker picked up a knock last week. Gabriel is still crocked. Not sure he can afford not to play him tonight, but there is a chance he might not play.

The tank is .5 more than him. Might have to reshuffle

Alexandre Lacazette is expected to make his debut against Leicester, while fellow new boy Sead Kolasinac should also start.

“We have plenty of uncertainties about players who didn’t play against Chelsea in the Community Shield - Ramsey, Ozil, Mertesacker," Wenger said.

"I have players coming back who have not played, like Mustafi.

As I said, Mustafi is a "little bit short", but I don't think Wenger can afford not to play him.
