Article: BBBEE amendments needed: minister

Amendments are needed to Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) legislation to ensure that South Africa's economy is more inclusive, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies said on Monday.

"We cannot run an effective economy that draws its leadership and entrepreneurial capacity only from a small minority of the population," he said in Johannesburg at a breakfast briefing hosted by the New Age newspaper.
 
Just fcking stop this racist application and everyone will be in a better place.
 
Why pick on BBBEE fronting when our politicians are the ones pretending to be so-called leaders.

He's right. BBBEE has proven to be infective in its current form and is certainly not structurally sound enough to meet the objectives of all-inclusive equality...

Ah cool, yeah we're in agreement there then. My only issue is what yardstick is used to measure wealth? People not disclosing their full income is rife in this country.

I might be misunderstanding economic empowerment, but I don't see issues like corporate fronting directly affecting the "poorest of the poor". The really poor people probably just want to be employed. Their needs differ from middle class people who might feel that they are being excluded from the upper reaches of the economy.

Let's just start with BBEE - Broad-based Educate Everyone. Once that's done we sort out the economic empowerment (if it hasn't sorted itself out by then).

Replace AA With Affirmative Education.
Replace BEE with Social Economic Empowerment. BEE is completely useless right now. It has only helped a very small percentage to self enrich and has done nothing to further the economy. In fact it has alienated many with the wealth and standing to help turn things around.

Get rid of this race thing in law, isn't that what the whole constitution is supposed to be about? how the hell do you move forward by pulling people back? That is a tug of war, not a solution. Crabs in a bucket don't need a lid.
 
BEE has been the greater contributor to inequality in this country.
