South African solar panel company responds to allegations about Chinese imports and gag order

Durban-based Artsolar has responded to reports of investigations into the extent of its local solar panel manufacturing capacity and says it has suffered reputational damage from individuals defaming the business.

This comes after the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) launched an investigation into Artsolar over claims that 95% of its modules were imported from China and weren't manufactured locally.

Why does it matter where they got the panels from anyways. If it works and don't break and if it does there is a warranty or guarantee on it and gets replaced. Who cares?

All smoke and mirrors. Every panel has the main components imported in some way.

You can thank them for the extra 10% levied on all imported panels.

Twats got caught out and changed the wording. LMAO.

And they also got a loan of many millions of ront to make them here.

Here:
The IDC granted R90-million in funding to ARTsolar to set up its “Proudly South African” manufacturing plant in New Germany.

The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC) has secured a court order in which it has now been excluded from a previous “gagging order”.

It will now be able to investigate allegations from whistleblowers that solar panel company ARTsolar imports its products from China and does not make them locally.

True, but they claimed it was locally manufactures. Which is bullschit.

Cause they were supposed to make them here, that is why there is an extra tax on imported solar panels :)
But, we don't have the capability to manufacture them. So they are dodging the main tax while the actual "panels" are still imported by them. We should have new criteria for making and manufacturing so scammers like these can't skew the market in their favour.

Because thousands of people bought B Grade panels are premium rates as Tier 1 brands. So when they fail, burn down and cause havoc. There's no recourse.

The directors are know for dodgy business tactics So IDC either where fooled or on the bribe.

Because you bought B grade panels that perform worse than Tier 1 for the same price. And when it burns down your house, good luck.
