South Africa sent 24 athletes to the IAAF World Junior Championships in Oregon, USA last week.
The result: One 7th place and one 8th place. Another athlete made the final but did not finish his event and the 4 x 400m men’s relay team were disqualified in the final.
South Africa was not even listed on the Medals Table.
But, let’s be fair to the athletes: they didn't decide to go to the championships and not perform. Also, to medal in athletics is not easy at World Championships level, where there are 212 countries who can send athletes.
