Hi All

I just bought a new ASUS Sata DVDRW and vista (64 or32) only read it in PIO mode which is very very slow, i have updated the drives firmware, updated the bios to the latest avaliable. I have even reinstalled twice on seperate drives, but have had no luck in changing it to DMA, on other machines it runs in DMA mode, but thats under windows XP, my old IDE Sony Writer used to work with DMA fine. I have looked everywere and i just cant find anything to fix this issue. I have even removed the devices in windows restarted and reinstalled the device, i have the latest and only drivers for the board which is as ASUS M2R32-MVP. I need some help here anyone!!!!

I'm having a similar prob, my drive is slow but I think my SATA controller could be the problem.

What and were should i find the settings for the sata controller?

I'm blowing bubbles, sorry. IDE controllers have settings, check if you've got the latest SATA controller drivers ;)

Does not work with the updating ASPI

PLEASE NOTE RUNNING VISTA

I'm in XP now downloading UBUNTU so I'll boot up vista when I'm finished.

Never tested my drive in Vista yet, use XP mostly.

In XP its not PIO but just a little slow but that's because I only have SATA1, I installed my SATA drivers so my drive is not listed under ATA controllers but recognized as SCSI.

I'll test Vista soon

Edit:
I ran a benchmark in XP and it performed well compared to similar spec't PCs, so In XP it works fine now I have a good base to test my drive in Vista.

Tested it in Vista and it's UDMA 4, benchmark faired the same as XP.

All I can recommend is install SP1 and find the latest SATA and IDE ATAPI drivers for your board...

Because I'm out of idea's ;) :D :p I don't have a cooking clue..... :p I owned an Asus once, it was nice.

ok. :D
